Should I get inFamous or Prototype?

I'm leaning more toward inFamous for the electro shock powers and combat in general but Prototype has my vote for absolute wanton destruction (imagine putting every player of GTA4 in one virtual city and give them god mode, infinite ammo and a rocket launcher that fires quicker than a fucking minigun)
Ok I played the fre PS: Plus trial (1 hr. (technically 45 mins but I quit thinking the rest of the time would be saved--apparently not)) and found that it seems most of the powers require all good or all evil. Prototype is fun because of all the ways you can murder people and the fact that murdering people in this game is as creative as using vehicles and the hookshot in Just Cause 2 to kill people.

Prototype has lasting appeal and I've spent more than 10 hours just goofing off on it. Consider it a stress relief, considering you're practically unstoppable with consumption, disguises, and Patsy. Getting around is a bit easier in Prototype and your most powerful abilities aren't finite, as Cole's are.

InFamous is coming out with a sequel and only games that had "To Be Continued...", left plot holes, or did exceedingly well--InFamous did the third one and there's a bit more story to it, just be prepared to play the game twice to unlock the best Hero/Villain stuff because choices in that game are occasionally made only once. Cole does seem a bit cooler than Alex Mercer, but sacrifices coolness for speed. Yeah Cole can use electricity to get around but Alex can glide, super-jump, and sprint.

In the end it all depends--do you want to play a game that enhances gameplay but appears too easy, or a game that has choices that involve one-way paths that cannot be changed later on? Or you could just save up and buy both! Whatever works!

I have played both and I say Infamous. It is my second favorite game of all time. Good story, Excellent gameplay and Interesting characters. I would still rent Prototype.

This is kind of cliche, but just watch Yahtzee's Infamous v. Prototype video. He actually sums it up pretty well, if memory serves.

But in my personal opinion, inFamous is a far superior game in every way.

I haven't played Prototype, but I freaking loved InFamous! It's easily one of my favorite games for the PS3.

Of course, I suppose it depends on what you're looking for, as Prototype, I'm sure, is much more fun in terms of pure mindless destruction. But I assure you, InFamous is well worth a buy.

Dude. inFamous totally, prototype is just balls-off-the-walls repetitive It just makes you feel over-powered with enough work..
I agree for the most part. Though I played inFamous quite a bit, beat it as Good and Evil. Prototype got boring pretty fast. Hell you start over powered and it only gets worse. Plus the graphics aren't that impressive IMO.

Rent Prototype.

Buy inFamous.

Prototype may be good mindless fun, but it's only fun for about an hour and the game is so unfinished and unpolished that it brings the whole game down.

Very reminiscent to GTAIV for me as I could probably say the same things about Prototype as I do about GTA
Does your cousin call you every ten minutes to ask if you want to go look at big American titties?

Instead of buying Infamous or Prototype right away I think you should rent them and decide which one you like better that way. This way it will save you money if you decide you don't like either of them.

I've only played prototype, but even i'll admit that after a while it gets repetitive and that feeling of badassery fades away and it just sort of feels...meh. So i'd go with infamous, i've heard great things about it.

What everyone forgets about prototpye is that it ripped off character design from Dark sector.

Prototype

I honestly don't know how they got away with that. It's like a copy paste job.

.
In Prototypes defense, he only looks like that when using the Armor and Blade abilities.

Personally, I have found Prototype a more enjoyable game, but a generally comes down to what you want to play as.

If you want to play an extremely agile, fast, resilient, and powerful beast of a protagonist, don't mind "hunting down" a lot of the back story, and like close-medium ranged combat, Prototype is for you.

If you want to play, as the developers put it, a super hero simulator with a character that uses medium-long ranged attacks (most of which are lightning equivalents of standard shooter weapons), has a moderate amount of health, requires siphoning electricity to fill a energy meter which fuels most of his attacks, and you like moral choice systems, Infamous is for you.
Infamous also has better graphics if that matters to you.

Both characters have regenerative health, a gliding ability, and immunity to falling damage.

I've only played the demo in InFamous, but they're both quite fun. Sucker Punch DID make the better picture of Alex Mercer in women's underwear, though.

I don't think you can go wrong with either, but I guess to put it in perspective, InFamous feels like Gears of War with Assassin's Creed stuck up it's ass, covered in the lightning graphics from Fable 1. In all the best ways.

On the other hand, Prototype feels like Devil May Cry after being beaten with Crackdown and then sprinkled with Metal Gear Solid (I dunno, those soldiers look pretty similar...). Again, in all the best ways.

I've played a fair bit of infamous and I finished Prototype. Infamous is the far superior game.

Never played InFamous (no PS3), but I've never enjoyed a freeroam sandbox game like I have Prototype. Sure, some of the missions are a little repetitive, and Alex Mercer really comes off as being a huge douchebag, but just being able to run around the city and freefall from the empire state building, landing on a dozen or so people, and gaining health for it really makes up for the games few flaws.

I say go with Prototype, but you'll probably enjoy either game.

I've got both, and I have to say i spent a lot more time playing Infamous. Prottype is definitely worth renting, but if i could go back i'd not have bought it.
