1) Go browse Skyrim Nexus for mods. Think about everything you would have liked to add to or change about game, and see what they have to offer.

2) Wait for the game to go on sale. No point in dropping a full $30 for a game you already own. You might have missed your best chances during the Winter Sale, it might still see 50% drop sometime in the next few months.

I honestly have no idea why anyone would buy an Elder Scrolls game for anything other than the PC.
This, unless you have a absolute clunker of a PC or none at all you should always, always get Bethesda sandbox games on the PC.

Between using console commands to fix broken quests and the sheer plethora of mod to enhance and extend the game the PC version has always been superior to the console.

The answer is absolutely yes. The PC versions of Bethesda games are superlative, in spite of the concessions they made to game design and mechanics in order to accomodate consoles. Now that the legendary edition is out, it's easy and well priced, though it would've been cheaper still during the Winter sale that just finished (I think it was 50% off, possibly more).

Some time on Skyrim Nexus will find you mods to improve textures, models, variety of enemies, NPCs, weapons and spells, add new armour and clothing items and can even alter vanilla mechanics.

I've used mods that remove the "once a day" limit on werewolf transformations, remove the time limit, increase werewolf run speed, jump height and toughness, making it a viable and enjoyable mechanic. Another mod also re-equips items worn prior to the transformation, a bugbear of mine. There are mods that improve and alter Vampire Lord form, that improve existing or add new player homes, new quests and companions and more.

I rebought Skyrim on my PC after the ps3 debacle ruined the console version for me.

As long as you have a decent PC, I would strongly recommend it. Especially at Skyrim's lower cost.

I have many mods on Skyrim.

A hunger/thirst/sleep mod that requires food conservation and strategy.
A camping system, which adds hypothermia, gives you camp items like a bedroll, and also lets you sleep on the ground
Numerous graphics mods
A mod that lets you look down and actually see your body
A mod called the Drachis mod, which makes the Argonians look like how they did in previous games (mostly the Daggerfall variety)
Another mod that gives more bonuses to having a higher Disposition with that character (A hidden stat that was made invisible in Skyrim because fuck you)
A mod that greatly improves platforming, and gives various animations for jumping and falling, ect.

I simply can't play the vanilla game anymore, it's almost as if Bestheda said "fuck it" and just let the fans finish the game for them.

Because that's exactly what happened.

Dear Lord in heaven yes! The MOds ohhh the mOds! The PC version of all Bethesda games are always a huge step up just for the mods alone. Even if you have a crappy computer the PC version will be a huge step up!

While the DLC on Steam is really overpriced, even when on sale, the base game drops super low when on sale so I would say that definitely get it if you know you can run it. If you get it on steam, you need to also download the Nexus Mod Manager, because lots of the mods aren't on steam yet and despite loving the Steam Workshop, the Nexus Mod Manager has things that check for issues relatively well and it has a much larger selection of good mods.

The only DLC I bough was the Hearthfire one because I wanted voice acting for my house and at the time there weren't any good house mods that had good voice acting as well.

Get it on sale for 8 bucks and mod the hell out of it.

Skyrim was already built limited because it was aimed to consoles rather than the PC like the previous games of TES, so aside from the mods it's merely a question of if you prefer keyboard and mouse or controllers, I bought Skyrim originally for my 360 but I realized I should've bought for the PC, I couldn't get used to the controller, so I gave it to my cousin and bought the PC version, mods are one big reason why you should consider getting Skyrim for the PC, I would buy it again just for the mods alone.

I suggest starting your adventure into modding with this lovely little guide.

Yes. Also don't ever buy any game published by Zenimax on any platform other than PC. They release great games hamstrung by flaws and rely on the modding community to clean them up.

I dont think its worth it but if you really want to then go looking for mods before you go spending money on it. Your best bet is to get some suggestions from other people though because for every half decent one there are a thousand incredibly crappy ones. If you think there are enough of them to make it worthwhile then go ahead its your money not mine.

Seems almost unanimous, and I appreciate everyone's input on the matter. Looks like I'll be waiting for another sale to come around. :3

I'd say yes, you've gotten enough reasons I'm sure, wait for the sale and grab it. After my 360 broke I wound up rebuying many of the games on sale, some I even bought before because I wanted to play them on PC, like Mass Effect, started on 360, beat it twice, got it on PC did the same and am likely to do it again.

There's nothing wrong with rebuying as long as you see there's something new and different and not just for the visuals.

For any of the bethesda games I truly believe that playing them on PC is the only way to play them and its all because of mods. Modding communities for the TES and Fallout games are massive and with the nexus being set up to one account across several games its easy to keep track of them if you step away from the game for a long time. If you dont like a certain mechanic or lack of a mechanic in a game, for example lack of Iron sights in fallout 3, you can almost always find a mod to change it to the way you want it or failing that you can make your own.

Mods also severely increase the life of a game and can sometimes change your entire opinion of a game. Without mods I consider Morrowind to be an awful experience but with a few mechanical mods and a texture pack its my favorite of the TES games

I think its definately worth it if you want more to skyrim then the vanilla experience

I'm sure there's probably an easy way that I could find out my computer's specs, buuuuuuuut as someone not part of the PC master race who uses his computer for mostly word-processing and the interwebz, I wouldn't know how to do that. ^^;
Just click on the start button, hover over "computer," right click and choose properties. The dialog box that comes up will tell you what you need to know. Then post it here and we could tell you stuff.
Thanks, here's what I've got:

Processor: Intel Core i5-2320 CPU @ 3.00 GHz
6.00 GB of RAM
64-bit Operating System
Display Adapter: AMD RADEON HD 6450.
739 GB free on my hard drive.
Not seeing a graphics card. So I guess its a laptop.

Unless you got a good 7 series AMD or Nvidia card, you will have a hard time to match those graphics mods. You will get it to look good, but not the best.
Actually I've got a desktop, though I'm pretty certain that I don't have a graphics card. While I certainly would love for everything to appear as great as it does in all the videos/screenshots I've seen, really I'd just be looking for something that looks better than what it does on the console...that and all the other fun sounding mods that people have mentioned (new homes, NPCs, quests, armors, weapons, skills, and such).

My main concern is just being able to run the game smoothly. I don't necessarily need the graphics pumped all the way up (though I'd prefer at least decent quality rather than having to go with the graphics on the bare minimum), and that applies to the mods as well. As I said I'm sure I wouldn't be getting the stunning quality that I'm seeing in videos and screenshots, but even at "decent" I'd imagine it would be vastly superior to what I've got on the 360.
