Play is just so you can say that you finished it.

Honestly, it doesn't get better. The only fight I had fun with was the end one and even then the boss just ...died. (RIP Archdemon...you were fun for a little while). I want to like Bioware games, I really do. Mostly because they're one of the few devs who still make a lot of RPGs and often. But their new games range from "Meh" to "@%#$&!".

There's an old save bonus for DA2. Otherwise you can just pick one of 3 preset Warden Origins, but I prefer making my own decisions and such.

The Dwarf Origins and the City Elf Origin and the Mage Origin--those are the best, but particularly the Dwarf ones are awesome. Dwarf Commoner is a moving underdog tale while Dwarf Noble is sort of poignant and dark. City Elf is like Dwarf Commoner, only a bit less extreme, more about racism than a caste system. Mage is lore-heavy and you start out the game in the Fade.

Download the Skip the Fade mod and other convenience tools, and you'll be a happier person. The Ser Gilmore companion and potential romance mod is nice as well. But you can also just keep going with it; I just found it easier when I knew who the character was, and I felt like I knew that the best with the dwarves because it's all so Byzantine and the flavor is much more interesting, which makes the Deep Roads later on less of a chore because it's your territory and some people recognize you. I mean, the Human Noble Origin is well-made but so... standard, so typical, too generic, and in DA2 you can only be human anyway. So ironic that almost nobody played anything but a human warrior; the least interesting of the bunch both classwise and storywise, with the exception of the personal stake you have in getting Howe.

Sadly, Origins gets a bit of a bad rep in some circles because the best and most interesting content, according to player data, never really got played.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE reading, just can't get into the game, also my origin story is the human noble by the way.
The most boring and generic into of them all. That could be an issue with your enjoyment. Try a Dwarf Noble.

Now that gives you some emotional incentive to keep playing.

Keep playing. The Circle of Magi is easily the most dull part of the game, but when that is over it only gets better.

The debate about which origin is the best is kind of tough to choose, but here is my two cents:

Dwarf Noble: Never played, but I can appreciate that this would make the dwarven politics much more interesting.
Dwarf Commoner: This certainly made the dwarven politics branch more interesting for me. With family connections and seeing old antagonists is very enjoyable.
Dalish Elf: Never finished the game with this, but there are a few enjoyable moments such as encountering your old clanmate as a ghoul later on. Has some interesting additional dialogue in Witch Hunt, and has the potential to be heavily referenced in DA2.
Mage: Played this one twice. Makes the Circle of Magi quest slightly more interesting. Redcliffe becomes better as well, and Witch Hunt also.
Human Noble: This is my favourite, due to the fact that you interact with so much of the Fereldan Nobility during the game that there is so much extra content. Howe becomes a better boss, and the ability to becomes King/Queen is very nice. Some good stuff with Nathaniel in Awakening as well.

I don't think fun should be an unlockable. If you aren't compelled to continue chances are you could find something else you would enjoy more.

I'm definitely in the camp that played it, got bored and quit, left it a while, came back a few months later, played it, and somehow couldn't put it down again. I don't know what happened that mysteriously made it suddenly so compelling, if my brain just needed time to absorb the mythology and terminology that meant nothing before, or the character storylines finally fleshing out, or the truly epic heart-wrenching moments later on in the story, or the Silent Hill-ish twist in the dwarven cities or...

Oh wait. Bisexual pretty elf boy.

Neeeeeevermind. I think I got me figured out. As you were.

You paid the money for the game, it's yours to do what you want with. Personally I'd suggest finishing it, but if you're tired of it, there's nothing stopping you from taking a break from the game or just putting it down permanently.
