If you're going to take anybodys point of view on this game - use his, I can't think of a better worded message on why not to play WoW from a neutral standpoint.

It's a good game, I've a level 80 Paladin myself but I've taken a break since early February, one word of advice however, is to play the 14-day trial first to see if you genuinely enjoy it, and find a decent server, because some are full of the biggest dickheads I've ever met in my life. (Okay, that was two pieces of advice but who's really counting? :( )

i would advise playing it, i played it, got lvl 80 on 2 chars, fairly good gear and mounts etc. and now i have sold it for $900, which seems like a pretty profitable investment, seeing as how i played it for 4 years (4x180=720). It can impact your social life, but if you just watch how much you play then it is easy to make sure it doesnt.

the guy who made the thread still gets what I mean
there is nothing better than WoW, don't give me this sh*t it's irrelevant to what this forum is about. should he play WoW or not. Depends. If you like MMO's then there's nothing better. I play WoW and have tried to play a bunch of other MMOs and all they do is copy WoW and bring nothing significant of their own. If the person is interested in the story then they can read one of the books Blizzard publishes every 6 months or so. Don't give me this crap, I have bno time for it

Your user name is brilliant. Seems there is someone other than me who likes the Silmarillion.

But anyway, no is the correct answer. Play a proper, offline RPG instead.

I think you should because it's a pretty cool game - I mean I play it and I have a social life - I see my friends during the day and play at night - or vice-versa, we have an agreement between me and my friends - I stay atleast 1 level away from the cap and I'm not a loser. Also it helps me keep in contact with my brother.

The throwing away money thing is a load of bull. There are private servers that have better communities than Blizzards and they aren't all instant 80's. The throwing away your life thing is a bunch of crap aswell, I play after school because I'm only allowed out one night a week during the school week and even then that only applies once a fortnight because of work and air cadets and schoolwork. I play for a maximum of about 3 hours a day - sometimes more but them times I am just pissing about fishing and talking. I get alot done even whilst playing - I organise stuff with my friends,do homework, clean, cook and stop myself from going back into depression.

I'm a WoW player-I'm a party lover and I get good grades. WoW doesn't ruin people or waste money - It's helped me out because I have made some good friends and I would heartily recommend trying it out now matter what the cons of the game are

Sorry. I've only played for about 3 days (Free Trial) and it wasn't my cup of tea.
I noticed that most trial-users dont buy Full wow. WHY? becuase the amount of levels someone whos never played before can go up in seven dayswhere they dont even play much isnt alot, and they likeley wont even hit level 12, and until at least level 30 the game is quite boring. The best bit about it is how It slowly gets funner and funner as you progress, until you eventually hit 80 and sure everyone says thats when the game 'Starts' But I just noticed all I did was Do Dailies to get money to buy good gear in AH until I was allowed to Dps/tank in Heroics (Feral drood.) so I could eventually get enough gear to Dps in Raids and that stage takes forever to get to and THENNNNN when you actually do go on raids (Yes the giant Teamwork aspect is fun as hell :p) they are only about twice a week max so even with all the bosses and epix that drop if you mostly do 25 man+ like me (Oh and you get gear for 25+ by doing the 10+ ones :S and then after the 25 man ones you do some 40 mans where winning a roll is fucking harrrddd) its hard to Get alot of gear quickly, and THENNNNN...once you do the 40 mans you go and get your ossim gear then if you can be bothered and depending on your gear you grind in BG's for SIX FUCKING MONTHS to get ONE BELT and then THIRTY NINE TRILLION HOURS to get another peice of BG gear and then fast forward thirty bazillion Years until your awesomeley geared out, Then you make another character of another race/class and DO THE WHOLE FUCKING THING AGAIN UNTIL YOUR HEAD ASPLOEDZ!...But the One thing that confused me more than anything was WHY THE HELL DID I LOVE THE GAME SO MUCH?!...

But... After all my experiences through wow, I was pondering the whole aim of the game while doing some quests on an alt once, and I realised the game is ultimateley about who can get the best gear. You spend eighty levels learning the ropes and having a laugh, then once you get to the top its an enormous effort to get some Overly Cartoony armor that no one else but you cares about...*sigh* yet its so damn FUN. So yeah, Id recommend you get it, just dont become addicted, happened to me a little while back but luckily I snapped out of it early on enough to still have my Social life. We should really invent a word for something like that - Evil, and soulsucking, Yet tempting, fun and addictive. If your gonna get the game make your guy a druid though... they can turn into Animals, and shit like that. Its freakin' fun.

No. If you give me the money I will come to your house and do an amusing dance once a month that will be far more entertaining.

I played for about 3 months. there is a lot too do, and it really interesting and fun. until it gets to about lvl40....then the best thing to do is just level up, which means doing the same thing again and again....i'd finish work, and then go back to work on wow. i gave up when it stopped being fun.

BUT it only takes over ur life if u let it. I put a good half a week solid overall into it, just pissing about.

Worth a go for a bit.

And as for the arguement of £15.00 a month - thats what a trip to the cinema costs these days, and u will easily sepnd many nights a month on this, its worth the money.

In my opinion No! You may feel at the start genuine excitement and happiness but that feeling soon turns to bs when you reach the level cap and you feel a sense of empty in the fact that youve spent months if not a year reaching the highest level only to mean absolutely f all as it doesn't make you superior to anyone in any way
