First off, hi everyone! I'm new here. :)
I had been saving up for a PS4 for a while now, I wanted to get it around the time of The Order: 1886 release, but now I'm not sure I want to spend all my savings to play it. The only other exclusives I think look interesting to me are The Last of Us: Remastered, possibly LBP3 and Uncharted 4. The Witcher 3 I really want to play, but the thing is, it's also going to be a PC release (with mods and customization)
My laptop broke a few months ago and I haven't gotten around to getting a new computer. I could go and get a PS4 right now with what I've saved, and play the Witcher 3 + those PS4 exclusives, or get a gaming laptop later (I don't know how much a desktop would come to, I don't have a desk right now, plus I'd like being able to move a computer if I did get one, I'm just concerned a laptop wouldn't handle TW3 well :\ ) I'm not a diehard fan of any company or platform, but I do find a controller/large screen more comfortable than a mouse and keyboard. I don't have much to spend r/n but I'm dying to play The Witcher and get the most bang for my buck. So I guess what I'm asking is anyone who's actually played The Order (bit early, I know, sorry); is it that bad? And Do you think TW will be better on a high end laptop or a PS4?

Do you think the exclusives that will be on the PS4 worth it?

If you answer YES, then get a PS4
If you answer NO, then save your money to replace your PC
If you answer MAYBE, then wait and decide once you have more/better information. Especially if Witcher 3 is the only thing that really interests you right now since...you know, it's not out yet :)

EDIT: I Googled "PS4 exclusives list" and found a few articles that might help you. Personally, I don't pay any attention to this kind of thing until the game ACTUALLY comes out (you'll notice The Order is on all three lists...)

Also, Persona 5 doesn't make any of these lists so that's a big name to consider if you're into those games...

The Last of Us: Remastered is rather good and the multiplayer is fun, if you're into that sort of thing. Aside from that, I use my PS4 somewhat rarely, primarily due to the fact that almost all my favorite games are on Steam. If you're into gaming on a console, the PS4 is likely going to be a purchase you'll enjoy; although with the right cables you can play PC games on your TV with a controller.

I think I might actually use my WiiU more, to be honest, because I'm a sucker for Mario Kart.

Getting a new laptop that can actually handle a game like TW3 might be quite a bit more pricey than a PS4. Might be better to get just an ordinary PC, but as you said you can't accommodate one. Also, I'm not so sure there are that many modders out there for the Witcher series. It will definitely be a better experience on PC though.

The advantage of getting a PS4 are of course the exclusives. There might not be so many right now, but you never know, the next Last of Us could be just a few years from now. As a PS4 owner, I am kind of excited to see what's coming next. Uncharted 4 looks great, both in terms of graphics and gameplay, Bloodborne seems to be the new Dark Souls, and No Man's Sky could be amazing if they deliver. Oh, and LBP3 doesn't seem to be so The touchpad on the controller is really nifty too, cant wait to see what they do with it. It's a bit underutilized right now.

The choice is up to you, of course, but from what you said, I would get a PS4 now. Getting a good enough laptop (at least where I live) could cost up to twice a PS4, and you can't have a PC, so unless you want a Xbone or a WiiU, Playstation is the way to go I guess. If you can get one this weekend, they're having a 50% off sale, 60% if you get PS+, on the biggest games of 2014.

I think the exclusives are worth it. Bloodborne, Silent Hills and The Last of Us Remastered are reason in enough in my book, but what really matters is if you think so as well.

Maybe that's because it's not exactly a PS4 exclusive, since it'll be available on PS3 as well.

Bloodborne looks to be a similar, superior title to The Order 1886, and it comes out in March. My advice? Get a ps4, and rent The Order from your local red box for $3. Then you can purchase Bloodborne in just a few weeks. If that doesn't catch your fancy, and you need your fix now, then go buy The Last of Us (assuming you haven't played it). It's a great game, much better then The Order, I guarantee it.

Also, Persona 5. Sony's brought the hammer this generation.

I'd say wait till the end of this year to get a ps4, there should be some pretty nice sales around that time.

Build a desktop. For not a lot more than a PS4 you can have a Mini/MicroATX build that'll do current games at 1920x1080@40fps+, taking up roughly the same space. From then on, you save money with sales and get to play things like KSP or Civ Beyond Earth, not to mention every PS1/2/GC/Wii game with upgraded graphics.

For $450ish i'd be looking at an AMD APU (A8-7650K or similar) + R7 250 build.
Pick up a cheap wireless keyboard+mouse and/or a wireless 360 controller adapter and you're set, just throw it behind the TV and forget about it.

Something for you to know is that you can connect a PC to your TV, and use a ps3/4/xbox 360/one controller. In fact that's how my current build is.

And to Gundam GP01, emulation is legal as long as you do it right, and use personal backed up software. In fact Sony kind of encouraged it with the ps2 with some things.

Own the console? Own the game?
Grats, it's entirely legal. Ignore nintendo crying like babies because you can play your gameboy games on a $30 phone rather than pay their ridiculous prices on the 3DS, they can feel free to deal with it.

It doesn't even need to be a personal back up, as long as the ROM/ISO is the same as yours (region, version, etc) it's fine.

I'd get it for the good blue ray player, if you are looking for a console though, may i recommend WiiU?

I use personal stuff just so I don't have to think that hard on it.

I would say try your hand at building your own desktop. It's like legos but for adults. And you'll get a much better bang to buck ratio with it.

Absolutely. I've had mine for about a year now, and have never regretted it for a second.

Also, I have played The Order: 1886, and no, it's nowhere NEAR 'that bad'. It's actually quite enjoyable.

This article accurately reflects my opinion so far.

My time with the Order, very disappointing. I thought there would be several interesting weapons to use... Nope. Also the fact that it hypes up this awesome human vs monsters back story... And 99% of what you kill are humans.

I feel like they Molyneux'd me.

Bloodbourne, No Man's Sky, Uncharted, and then there are all the JRPGs that the PS4 will have exclusively (Disgaea 5, persona 5, omega quintet, hyperdimension neptunia victory II, Ys, deep down etc etc).

The PS4 was an easy buy for me, as was the Wii U/Vita/N3DS XL, I might eventually get an Xbox One.. when there is something I actually want to play on it.

Yes I just bought A PS3 to play its exclusive RPG's and the one one Game that made me consider a ps4 is coming on both. I'm just happy.

I still don't think that a PS4 is worth the money yet. Most of the system's big exclusives don't exist yet, but if you think that they would be up your alley, then go for it, but I would advise waiting until the first big one comes around.

Also, I notice that you are saying that you want to play The Witcher a lot, but I would advise caution on that. I have faith in CD Projekt to make a good game, but buying a whole system to play one game can be a bit dicey. Wait until the reviews come out; otherwise you may end up dropping a lot of money to play a stinker. Hell, I almost got an XbOne for Halo: MCC, and from what I have heard, that game is still very iffy on the multiplayer side, and it has been out since November.
