Should Square Enix be thinking about a new MMO?

Square-Enix great success with FFXI since 2004 was awesome, 5 years since it release now they still have a nice community but have been overtaken by the Wow's and Turbine's etc..
Should they make another FF (not an expansion).
Or should they just think about another MMO, based on one of their big hits, ie: Xenogears

They should just make FFXI2 and call it something else, and this time make it more western friendly, more like FFXII.

Considering the expansion of Invalice that they've done through the FF Tactics and the FF12 games, I would think an MMO set in Invalice would be a good move.

If they decided to make a new MMO, i think that they would create more or less a whole new world for it.

If they are, hopefully it will be something new, rather than a final fantasy tile.... unless that mmo happens to be a star ocean title

"Should" they? I dont really think anyone here has the the correct insight necessary to make that sort of determination. As long as they don't fully drop support for FFXI, then I can't see why a venture into another MMO title could be any more or less successful than any other project the could work on. However, I would encourage the game to be "different" than FFXI. By that I mean gameplay and setting that sets itself far apart from their current system. This would serve to not alienate their current FFXI community by providing a "replacement", and to give something for new fans to dig into.

Although, I can't say I'll be checking it out if they do come along with a new game. I've had horrible experience with their play online system and billing/account management. That, along with horrible customer service support.

FFXI is great don't get me wrong, and its monthly payment of 12.95 and $1 for each addtional content id not bad. But after 5 years, im pretty sure they need to move on. vanadiel was awesome. but after a while got boring. They need a new story and new places for another game. Maybe go from Medieval game styles which imo is what ffxi is all based in knights, chocobos etc..., to go more futuristic.

I think Square are currently working on Rapture. I'd enjoy a F2P MMO right now.
