Here's an Idea

they introduce a rating systm (along side the regular one) that Indicates if a game is "online focused" or "single player" focused

for example Left 4 dead and COD would be "Multiplayer focused" with "limited single player"

Team fortress 2 would be "multiplayer focused" with NO single player

Fallout New vegas "single player focused" with NO multiplayer or mabye saints row 2 would be "single player focused" with Multiplayer

Now I understand that this is tricky as games kind of blur the lines between where their focus is at and this systm is far from perfect (far from actually functional I guess)

anyway The reseaon I came up with this is mabye it would be better if it was more clear as to what Kind of game you were buying, then perhaps you wouldnt have to put up with al this "5 hour campaign" crap

I mean It dosnt actually change the way devs make their games but mabye if things were made clear then there would be less complaints from people on eather side of the spectrum

I mean no one complains about the lack of a single player in team fortress, because there isnt one, which is fine because its clear that its only online focused

I can't think of any games that needed the clarification since I stopped buying games blindly about a decade ago.

OK, do you have a 360 game box near you?
If you do, pick it up and look at the back of the box.
About half way down the box there should be a couple green and orange rectangles.
The green rectangles are for system and single player information
the orange rectangles are for multiplayer information

I don't know if the PS3 does the samething, but there's always the internet to look that kind of stuff up.

Yes. Yes it should. It would simplify my game purchases because I could handily disregard every game that's MP focused without having to sift through the fine print.
I agree, but i just tend to avoid FPS in general now and stick to games that i have researched and know that i will like. But it would be good when you go out and just want to buy a random game then get home and realise it's all shit because it was built for multiplayer.

This. On the rare occasion that I buy a game completely on impulse, I never pay more than $10 for it, and I usually spend a good deal less than that. That way, I'm not out too much cash if I don't like the game. If someone buys a game without properly researching it, it's nobody's fault but their own if it's in a style that they don't like. I mean, there's this magical thing called the internet, and anyone with enough money to buy videogames is going to have enough money for a connection, or barring that, the means to get to the local library and do the research there. If you're on the low end of that scale, it's even more reason not to randomly buy games you know nothing about.
