I'm not in the US so I don't know how things work over there but here you need to get a score called an ATAR. It used to be TER, and was based on how well you did in the exam. Now the ATAR is based half on your exam and half on your grade. So it does matter somewhat here.

However, the schools are horrific at explaining what is required to get into places, and what is required to do well. (I have friends who cannot get into Uni courses they want because they were misinformed as to the requirements) So I agree that there needs to be reform.
College class requirements and curriculums are horrible here. I actually had to go an extra semester for two reasons. First, one semester I was told I couldn't pick up the fifth class I wanted to take, because it could only be taken by seniors, it had no other requirements to take it, just senior level. At the time I was 3 credit hours away from being a senior. Second, during one semester, there were two required classes for my major that I hadn't taken. I couldn't take both, because they were scheduled at the same hour. (Now if I had a TARDIS at the time, I could have taken both, and when one class was over, I'd go back in time and go to the other as well.)

Yes. We should focus on giving all humans genetic memory and photographic memory. Education would then be obsolete after 1-2 generations.

As a high school student, it is absolutely nessecary. Where would those who want to shoot high learn calculus? My parents don't know that. How about the structure of a cell? My parents don't know that either. They're smart but they don't know everything. In my town we have a vocational school, which teaches jobs like masony and the like. So high school is improtant if you want to go on in life is what I'm trying to say. Off to school!

Another thing, if you think the "real world" doesn't have bullies, cliques, and bad instructions, then you are going to be sorely disappointed.
If anything, this is the real learning that goes on throughout all of schooling. Or at least, the learning that's applicable to everyone. Not everyone is going to need to know how to do algebra, or the capital of Rhodesia[footnote]It was Salisbury.[/footnote]. However, everyone needs to learn how to interact with people, and school systems are pretty much a miniature society unto themselves.
EVERYONE needs algebra. period. not knowing it makes you stupid, as has been proven here in the netherlands, where for the ars-y-people its not compulsory. and now they cant find jobs because all jobs want people who can actualy do maths. XD because whatever you do, there are ALWAYS calculations to be made, if larger or lesser amounts.

No...?

Stick up for yourself, be yourself, and just do your damn work. Shit, its not that hard. I went to a good high school, so I don't know exactly how bad it can get, but I definitely understand ostracization for being different. But fuck it, I found my group of friends too, and I stuck with them and fuck everyone else.
Well, we couldn't ALL fit in with the panda clique, now could we?

Damn cool kids

Luckily I found my place amongst the wolves...

Anyways, by the looks of your OP, you need some schoolin'. And this is a slippery slope, if we booted highschool (which is a bad idea) what comes next? College? A formal education altogether?

Highschool is a vital cornerstone of society.
Haha Riiight. =P I was just too damn cool for school.
Oh, I knew how it went...

Sitting in the back of the class, smoking bamboo sticks in the bathroom, leanin' on stumps, checking out passsing chicks.

Yea, you're cool...
At least I wasn't howling at every moon that passed by me. ;)
You don't pull any punches, do you Mr. Pandah?

You're the reason I was always picked last for dodgeball! (they still play dodgeball in highschool, right?)
Besides that fact that I was the only K9 with asthma.

But I'm the only one in my graduating pack who achieved Exalted status. (Voted most likely to be Alpha wolf in my yearbook as well.)
