In games like Fable 2, Fallout 3, Grand Theft Auto, and Prototype(just to name a few) you can't kill kids. Should game designers let you be able to kill/hurt kids.

Yes.

I want to give you a long drawn out reason why. But really there is no better reason beyond it being utterly nonsensical to not let you.

Games are not reality, anything done in them is not real, people who do terrible things that play games would have done terrible things if they didn't have games.

Game Actions do not lead to real life actions. So yes.

Damnit...that was longer than the original "Yes."

I bet GTA is the first to implement this, and good on them.

If it adds something to the game or if there's some point.

I don't think it's right to tell game devs they CAN'T put virtual kid killing options in. People who don't want to play games with that can just avoid them.

I guess if you want. I personally don't care as I never try killing kids (shows you have some problems if you do doesn't it?). Either way if they let you kill games, the rating would go through the roof and it'll end up being an AO game.

Out of curiosity, why would they?

If they make it so you can murder children, their game will get a higher rating, a lot of complaints, and so on and so forth in that fashion.

Is it really necessary to be able to kill a child in a game? It makes more hassle for the game developers, the retail stores where the games are sold, and the parents who SHOULD be paying attention to what their kids are playing.

I don't think so. It serves absolutely no purpose than to be utterly sadistic and sick for your own amusement.

Not really. Killing kids in games, not to mention real life, is really distasteful and is just plain wrong.

Absolutely. I think that it should give the game an automatic M rating, but you should be able to. I'm always perplexed as to why these massive cities like in GTA never have any children. I also can't tell you how many times I wanted to shoot those fucks in little lamplight. "Mungo, mungo, smells like dungo" *bam! bam!* "Who smells like dungo now, *****!"

If there's any killing at all, why discriminate? If you don't want to kill kids, don't put them in the fucking game in the first place.

if you could it in Fallout 1 and 2 i dont see why you cant do it in any game, however i can see developers dont do it for reasons of having the game rating go up to almost an adult rated game (which almost all retailers refuse to sell btw causeing a major chunk of sales going out) so i can see their logic, but where are the developers that like to take risks anymore?

I'll go further. You should be able to rape, kill, explode, steal, and/or torture whatever pixels you want in a video game as long as it's developed as such.

Is any feature in a game really necessary?

According to modern psychology and endless case studies humans do.

Even Infants (Course overall Infants are far more astute than people give them credit...just because the little bastards can't talk yet).

Nope. You want it to sell, you add in shiny gimmicky shit.

The ability to kill children would create a huge controversy and probably help the game sell for a short while, but I think it'd be more hassle than it's worth. They should just remove kids from games altogether.

Is it really necessary to be able to kill an adult in a game?
Is it really necessary to be able to kill in a game (Pokemon does fine with "fainting")?
Is it really necessary to be playing a game at all?
Is it really necessary to post on a forum asking if you should be able to kill children in video games?

No, but I'll be damned if I'm going to let you legislate any of these away.

when playing GTA games, I KNOW why there aren't any kids for me to to kill but it still ticks me off just a tad. I do want to be able to kill kids in those games even if it is just for the immersive quality of the game. There is a nagging surrealistic feeling in GTA games when there are old ladies walking around but no sticky fingered little brats.

On that note, I also want there to be dogs to kill, as well.

A haiku I wrote:

Annoying children
Sticky fingered little brats
Defenestration

I'm fine with not letting you kill kids so long as developers stop making me want to kill the kids they put in game so freaking much...
