You can't make the world a better place because humans are evil.
Ugh. Really? People still think this way? Walk outside, go talk to the first person you see. Chances are they will talk back and be nice and not stab you to death like the evil person that they are. Or maybe it's just their subtle way to get everyone to like them then crush their spirits?

People aren't evil. They're nice and will generally help you. Sometimes they can be lazy.

You clearly don't live in my city. Talking to someone on the street will either yield:
1) The person walking away rather quickly;
2) You getting yelled at.

I don't, because 90% of the world is made up of assholes who could give two-shits less if I was in such a situation.
That's why there are so many videos that show school fights, and car wrecks. Nobody steps in to help or prevent it, other than the authorities.

Sure you have exceptions, such as the fine people here at the Escapist, but chances are, nobody of the like would be around.

Seeing as how laziness is considered a sin, that technically makes people evil.

What about rape victims? Do they fall into your category of "those people"? What if they chose to keep the child? Or what if the parents decide to keep the child and eventually turn out perfectly fine? I have several friends like that. Not everything is so nice as to be pigeon-holed as you seem to be doing.

And on the friend front, do people not deserve a second chance? Maybe someone you know made a mistake earlier in their life and now you would condemn them for it.

OK, let me start off with: This is what i like in a forum site! you escapists are giving me a fair shake, unlike youtube with their simply retarded answers... Anway

first: rape victims were raped, therefore are exempt from my category of 'those' people, if they keep the child, good for them, if they turn out perfectly fine, even better! what I mean by 'those people' is the ones who were so drunk/high/both they forgot a condom, and refuse abortion because 'the baby needs someone to love them' again, THE PEOPLE WHO SHOULD NOT BE BREEDING IN THE FIRST PLACE!

and the way I choose to keep my friends or not:

if they made a mistake, I give them a second chance, if they continually make that exact same mistake, then I ditch them, because they ovbiously aren't learning anything and never will.

if they know what they are doing and are simply doing it for the 'rush' or because its their definition of 'fun' then again, ditch 'em.

this is somewhat hypocritcal of me because I have a friend who commits petty crimes for the 'rush' and I keep him around for the sole reason that he kept me from commiting suicide, and therefore I have unprecidented loyalty towards him.

this discussion will probably go on forever because my thinking works differently than most peoples, I am a firm believer in second chances 'fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me' I also believe firmly in sturgeons law '90% of everything is crap' getting a taste of it first hand with my drunk of a father, who changed my outlook on people, this may sound personal and off topic,so I'll put in into a spoiler warning so you don't have to read it if you don't want to
but i know my mother, she doesn't cry easily (the death of someone close to her is basically it), my father made her cry.
getting back on topic, I usually apply that to most people, getting a taste of it myself, and with the knowledge that what my father was is not the worst of it, i imagine the ones who are only about 16 and are pregnent, i apply about half of what my father was to them, so IMO, they should be left to their fate in that car.

Only in one religion I know if. Could be a few more? But sins only effect a few peoples personal morals.

People don't, but I do, yes.
Evil may have been the wrong word.

People are selfish, self-serving, lazy, and stupid, but not evil.

Also, what Calobi said.
Nobody who lives in Florida is friendly.
I don't know, I guess I just fee linsulted by these words. I mean, I know so many good selfless people. Intelligent, outgoing, and always helping. So when people genrealise the entire population as scum, it kind of annoys me.

Yes it is within every person's duty to help their fellow man/woman/child.
It is not a duty, it is a choice. There is no law saying I have to help you if you break an arm and vice versa, but I can still choose to.

Just remember, I have no obligation.

Help people when it is not directly and blatantly lethal to your person. Unless, you know, you WANT to die being a hero.
This, unless you know them, in that case I would help them if it meant more could live for one life.

You already recognize it for what it is - a generalization.
Clearly, I can't know intimate details of every living human being.

Look at my motto: There is a difference between a person and people.
Very distinct.
So yes, a person may be intelligent, outgoing, kind, and all of that.
But people are not.
For my purposes, "people" inherently means "humanity in general."
I find, there are a lot of aspects of humanity which are caring and nice that generally outweigh the crap and stupidty. Just those few that are are a lot louder and more preverse with their actions/words. I see a lot of shit everyday at work, in the streets, on the news, but I generally feel better talking to friends or talking here, to people that are good, give a damn, and know that they could do a hell of a lot more in their lives and for society then some bogan sitting at home screaming at their kids for climbing on the fence.

sometimes you get just shit in return .... here are some times i tried .. and how it ended

1.once i tried to help a crippled guy when he fell over but the second i touched him he started screaming ... i was in a cell for 17 hours and almost got charged with assault

2. once i saw some dude slap his girl lyk 5 times in camden so i pushed him and yelled "wtf is your problem" ... then the girl pushes me and starts trying to hit me screaming "leave him alone" ..... i just got the hell out of there

3. i once bought a homeless guy a sandwich and a coke then he threw it at me and said "what the hell am i gonna do with these" to which i replied "eat them you fucking crackhead!" ... just as police walked by .. almost got arrested .. was told to move on and everyone thought i was the bad guy

the list goes on ... it's just not worth it man ... keep myself to myself nowadays, lesson learned
