BE EASY ON ME.
I think I have a man crush on your accent. In the straighest way possible.
:)

Could a mod edit mine into the list, since the thread creator is suspended?

I may do this at the weekend, if there's enough interest....

(Yeah okay, I'm attention seeking xD)
Looky, look! I've posted mine. Now I demand you to show your accent!
Okay, I'll do that tomorrow then. It's getting close to midnight and I can't be bothered finding my webcam/headset, reinstalling the webcam software and then creating a youtube account. I'm already falling asleep...

As for your accent, it's cool! I like the way you pronounce a v more like a w, it sounds great.

(Also yay, another Shania Twain fan!)

Actually I've been vlogging for quite a while, so I'll just use an old video of me to share my accent:

I'm Dutch by the way, and my accent doesn't sound Dutch at all.
I might do a proper video later.
Your accent sounds American. Weird.

(Before either of you argue with me, yes I know you're from different countries. I'm British, I know a fair bit about Europe and I'm not going to lump all European countries together like an American.)

So yeah, the point. Which was..... oh yeah. Why is it, that in countries which don't have English as a dominant lanuguage, that some people learning English have American accents, and others have a sort of English/native country cross? It's... intriguing.

I think its because most people who sound sort of English/native learned from school and stopped there, while those with American accents learned from television before school classes even started and never stopped learning.

At least, that's what happened with me. Around the time I learned to read, I also quickly learned English through American shows with subtitles on TV and video games. By the time they finally started teaching basic English grammar at school I was reading Lord of the Rings in English.

Here's mine:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QtsTD7AgLtE

I had to record the video on my cell phone, so that's why I wasn't able to answer all of the questions, and why it cut off both the beginning and end of the video. I think I was able to give a decent preview of my accent though.

Us midwesterners tend to drag out our O's. You'll notice it when I say Minnesota. For the most part though, the midwest has what's called the "TV accent". So if you watch broadcast new achors, that's essentially the accent my region has.

I'm thinking of doing this, honest, only my mum is watching TV and I think I would end up singing 'Shock Treatment' instead of answering the questions. \o/

You need a bit of
Oooh, shock treatment
Gets you jumping like a real live wire!

It probably depends on what they get to hear english "live" from. Like me for instance. I'm really fond of australian and british. Therefore I tend to lean more towards english rather than american. You know, if people watch more british shows than they watch american, they will automaticly take after it. Or again in my case. If you think something sounds cooler in one accent you might consciously start pronouncing the word like that

This is the only video of me that I have right now [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMwDSZvfwoI]
And yes I know I'm a terrible actor.
But it's too dark and everyone is too asleep right now for me to be able to record anything new.

I have decided I am going to record it before hand rather than uploading straight up to YooToob, so yes I am going to do another with slightly less light all over my face and slightly more being awake. :D

Oh yeah... that.

Very simple really. I didn't know how old you had to be to sign up for youtube at time of signing up so I made myself 18 years old (19 now). Silly idea I know, but I'm going to make a new account soon, so it will be my proper age.
No no no, your Escapist profile... it says you're 28 :)
Oh. Don't ask me. CD-ROM set up the profile. I just run the club.

Hm... I only seem to have a microphone and no camera. Oh well, I'll figure out a way.

EDIT: Never mind... I don't seem to have a camera or a microphone .___.

Ahh, stupid vacation. I left my camera at home. But, in case I do manage to get this up, I will say that I am originally from Nova Scotia (Canada) but I've lived the last 5 years in Alberta (also Canada, fyi). People out west say I have a slight maritime accent, people in the maritimes say I have a slight western accent. I don't notice much, but I think it sounds interesting. Makes me want to post this even more to get feedback.

EDIT:

I haven't got a digital camera, so I'll simply say I have a strong Scottish accent. Which is supposedly one of the best in the world. Although I've yet to see any evidence of that.
Of course you have the best accent in the world. You have Sean Connery! How's that for evidence?

Yeah, that'll be a mixture of three things.

1. Hair length.

2. Amount of light being picked up by the web-cam.

3. Been awake for more than a day.

Bonus reason: For some reason it has removed all of the colour from my eyes... I dont know why, but I have blue eyes... not in the video though. :D
