I don't show my face on the internet because, to be honest, I'm afraid of those around me and in many ways, almost ashamed of being a gamer. Like how people around here have been killed for being black or homosexual, or being the wrong kind of Christian. I just don't think people around here would appreciate my fraternizing on the internet in a place where someone would post this:

because of the whole "People who come together to talk about video games" thing...
People scare me. >.>
You should move somewhere awesome, like California.

Well I don't have any pictures of myself small enough to make an avatar and I still don't know how to post pictures on forums.

I don't show who I am because of prejudgmental people. It's jerks like that who immediately paint people into a negative steryotype and enforce them by putting down people with low self esteem, causing them to retreat into their corner of madness, in which the steryotype stems from... it's not pretty... fuck society!

Definition of Avatar for computer use: An avatar is a computer user's representation of himself/herself or alter ego whether in the form of a three-dimensional model used in computer games, or a two-dimensional icon (picture) used on Internet forums and other communities.

I have no reason to show my face, nor should I feel any pressure to do so. Besides, Meryl's bum is better by a long shot.

I don't think I want a picture of myself circulating around the internet. Even more so on a random forum. And no, I do not have Facebook/Myspace/any other website that collects information about you.

Cause I like Godzilla and feel the need to let everyone else know without putting it in a post?

I don't use an avatar to hide my 'true identity' or whatever. I just like having an avatar. I look into mirrors and use my real face every day in real life, so why not use an avatar online? Besides, I'm paranoid and I don't like posting my photos online. I might do it someday when I'm a little less than sober.

Maybe I am a giant spiky robot, and besides if I wanted people to care about my picture I would just go to facebook, where people care about image not content, I like the care of content over image X3

There's usually a thread every 2-3 months named something along the lines of "Show us the person behind the avatar", in which your response contains a photo of you.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but for all those who respond to those particular threads (and there are usually quite a lot of responses), how are they "hiding"?

As for me, mine's a picture of 2 F-14 Tomcats. I like that picture. It use to be my background for years before I got my first widescreen monitor, and got a widescreen background of an F-14 instead. I like it. :)
If you really wanna see who I am, I have a picture of me in my profile, anyway.

(Note: I just realised how aggressive this sounds at points, sorry about that. Just stating my opinion. :S )

Avatars are here to convey personal taste, not a personal picture (necessarily, that is).

For instance, mine is here for October; with Halloween and such goin' on. Many people have done that.

Before that, it was a logo for 3DFX, the first company to push graphics-hardware to the limit.

After Oct., I'll be using a nice little avatar I found that goes with my Escapist name.

As for a picture of me, forget it. Now.

Naw, I don't really try to hide myself. If you wanna find a picture of me, it ain't that hard. You can add me on facebook, or I think you can see a lot of 'em without adding me. And I tried putting a picture in my profile but I never could tell if it worked or not. But I like to hand draw my avatars and scan them. This one looks so much better on my wall than it does in that little picture, but oh well.

Wahts wrong with my picture? Thats just what i have to wear for when i go somewhere where I need a shirt and tie or if i need to make a presentation in my classes.
I'm saying its a perfectly normal and acceptable picture. I was using it as a counterbalance to the other image of the guy enjoying his bong to make the point that even if you looked like a perfectly nice guy, they still wouldn't like you just because you're a gamer. :(

Going to guess you're Dorian Grey? and I try to be super, but I'm no hero. I just try.
