Yahtzee...
Worshipped by all of us for his comedic approach to what is, as often as not, a paid endorsement*.
I was wondering how many people here start using the phrases, and terms from Yahtzee's reviews in everyday life, and if anybody finds it offensive that you speak like that?
Is Zero Punctuation slipping into your reality?

I, for example often hear IT students on campus use the term "Pants-On-Head Retarded" when they have to provide assistance anyone who 'broke' windows, or "Indigo Prophecy syndrome" when Windows crashes for no apparent reason.

*By paid endorsement I meant other magazines and sites, not The Escapist.
I've always used long winding metaphors in my speech but as of late I'm being accused of sounding like Yahtzee. Being English doesn't help either.

You should realize though that Yahtzee sounds like Charlie Brooker, who in turn sounds a lot like Douglas Adams, who in turn sounds like...
Do many people outside of the UK know about Charlie Brooker (of who I am a bit of a fanboy).
They learned quick after he wrote that article asking someone to shoot George Bush.

i've actually used a couple zp lines to pick up chicks. if you know how to use the right context, they're actually quite a turn-on (eg the "girlfriends of gamers" comment, where he addresses that they only watch the videos because they secretly want to fuck him--chicks LOVE when guys throw them a curveball like that, but only if the timing is right)

I actually use alot of the words that he uses in my everyday life.
Words like "projecting" and "presumptuous" are just a few of the new words that i have learned from him.

I wanted to say "Go Team Retard" a lot while working at the fast food place at which I was previously employed. So many stupid co-workers there.

I also find that I wish I had "stonking great tits." It's kinda freaky that I think of my chest in those terms.

I admire Yahtzee, but we have different styles. I am more of an absurdest, who makes obscure metaphors. Though I have stolen his sentence structure time to time which is mostly, talk about game, make comparison, talk a little more, drive the point home with a crude yet clever metaphor. With the hallmarks of comedy, gags and gimmicks throw into the mix. Not to say he is gimmicky, which is where most comedy writers go after they've run out of cleverness and effort.

On a side note go read the review of GTA4 at game revolution to see some serious Yahtzee inspired game reviewing.

I generally avoid quoting him, except when something fits just perfectly, and usually I only realize I've done so shortly afterward.

Edit: Actually, I have noticed that I've started saying "And it would be awesome." in the same tone that he used anytime I'm discussing a hypothetical situation, if the said situation would indeed be awesome.

I've used the "floss" line once or twice, but aside from that I don't quote him too much.

And as for the "pants on head retarded" thing, I saw a dude once a a small lake beach that was, in fact, pants on head retarded. As in he had cut off one of the legs of his jeans and had it on his head. Seeing as how this was about seven or so years before yahtzee said it, I think it's safe to say he didn't invent it.

I'm just happy I don't have many friends who also watch The Escapist, because I don't want accusations of "copying" when I wear my fedora - I've owned it for 3 and a bit years dammit, I came first!
I have a picture of me wearing my old fedora(which has since been destroyed by a dog, so i need a new one)from about four years ago, since it was in my freshman year of High School that the picture was taken. I can't even begin to count how many of my friends have told me that I only had that thing because of the ZP reviews.

Right, because I had these amazing psychic powers that allowed me to see into the future of popular game-related humor and decided to copy somebody.

i only found out about zp because i had a friend that called me a yahtzee wanabee. he continued with this for quite some time hurling the same bland and unimaginitive insults while i tried desperatly to stear the ship away to avoid landing in a flamewar. after half an hour and him finally realising that i had no idea what he was talking about he showed me zp.

finnaly i found anouther cyncial misanthrope (living in a smallish town you hardly meat people that are like you, but that goes with the advantage of being not surrounded by as many retarded dicks) and this one was making profit from his rantings.

but at that moment a horrid realisation occured to me, to all those that have seen zp i will be forever dubbed a phoney (until anouther popular insulting figure emerges). and it doensnt matter if you show proof of you originality, sadly logic and reasoning cannot beat someones generic insults :(

I use his phrases sometimes. My friend recommended a book for me, and it sucked so much I couldn't finish it. He keeps pestering me to finish it because you never know how it might turn out. I told him "If you get served a dead dog for lunch you don't stick around for the pudding"

Not to long ago I used Terry and Gonad when making the dissenting opinion against Wind Waker

Terry: Let's make it so you can pick up other enemies weapons, with distinct variety

Gonad: Ok, as long as they're distinct visual variety, lets make them mechanically discreet, slow, easily doped once hit, and give you no incentive to just use your regular weapons instead.

None of my friends know Yahtzee, so I can rip him off freely. Ah, because there is nothing like pretending to have humour.

I still use "console tards" and will continue to do so until I find a better term for it. In the meantime, "console tards" it is.

Other than that I don't tend to quote him in conversation (written or spoken).

EDIT: Interesting point about "pretending to have humour". The saddest moment of my life was probably when I realised that it was much easier to get people to laugh regurgitation the same of shit I laughed at when I was 11 years old than trying anything new and/or original.
