I've never been one for pistols in video games... Then again i'm a horrible FPS player. If i had a sidearm i'd go with a shotgun, wait for them to get close and unload some buckshot down their throat...

The only reason i don't like pistols I think is because, well I'm not good with pistols, and I know it's a horrible excuse, but it's the truth really.

I was surprised when I looked at my COD4 custom classes, and noticed that all five of the sidearms were M9 Suppressed.
I just... adore... that weapon.

Ha, the Halo: CE pistol was amazing. There was no stopping that gun. Dead accurate, plenty of ammo, and it can shoot across the map with it's little mini-scope? Sign me up.

Otherwise. In Call of Duty 4 I usually use the semi-auto shotgun (its name escapes me right now) and not to brag, but in free-for-all matches there is generally no stopping me with that gun. I like it so much that it's the only gun I actually worked on to get the Golden finish. But this one time I ran out of ammo with it, and pulled out my Desert Eagle. Right as I do that two guys come from opposite sides of the room. I duck down and drop the first guy with a head-shot, then whip around and bust the other guy right between the eyes. Then I run outside and see two other guys fighting right outside the door and kill both of them with headshots.

I killed four guys in under ten seconds with nothing but headshots with a pistol. It was awesome and I was really happy....until a damned sniper got me.

Ahh well, it was still pretty cool.

I took down a hind-d helicopter in battlefield 2 with a mp5 sub machine gun; i stared and wondered what just happened??? (I know it isn't a side arm but it was very cool, and the missiles that hit the helicopter before i shot it probably helped a bit.)

a friend and I were playing C.O.D. 2 versus the other day,i have an M1,he a shotgun.and those of you who are fans of the M1 Garande know that it makes a certain noise when it's being reloaded. my friend hears this, leaves cover, and comes charging at me.i whip out my revolver and shoot him in the head.a side arm won me a game. does anyone else have a story like this?if you do,please share them.
it's a fairly standard tactic from Counter Strike. in that game, you have to switch to sidearm instead of reload because everybody else will since everbody has played it so long.

hell, in counter strike people are so familiar with the levels that they know when to shoot at empty choke points right before you enter em, making it feel like you're getting killed by a psychic.

There is a use for pistols? Obviously Halo:Combat Evolved has one cheap pistol but really I haven't played a game since where having a pistol is good. You:

1.Have enough ammo
2.Faster to reload than switch
3.Can pick up a second good gun
4.Start off with a second good gun

Rainbow Six: Vegas 2, just adore my Desert Eagle, It's about as shooty as any assault rifle, but has a nicer feeling, and the blind fire animations are friggin awesome

TF2, constantly whip out the pistol as a scout to help get in some damage to a heavy before closing in for a kill, to hassle a sniper, or just plain outrange a lot of classes.

I just love the high ROF and range.

Back when i played some CoD4, it was on Bloc standard Team Deathmatch.

So, i go prone because i'm bored as hell and i do stupid things when i'm bored like jump around randomly. Since the other team has that damned stair case sniper position (the one everyone hates?) i whip out my Deagle and shoot randomly at the place while still being prone.

Sure enough, i got a headshot and I didn't even know anyone was there.

So i checked carefully again, the same person comes, i whip out my Deagle still being prone and whadoyaknow, another head shot.

It was just really funny cosidering i'm not that great at CoD4 online.

Pistol. Shotgun. Man weapons. I don't know why, but I just feel better at a game when I'm firing a pistol. Rifles and machine guns are all the same. Shotgun gives a nice boom and a spray of blood.

Pistol's are a man's weapon. The bigger and louder, the better. Especially if it's a revolver.

Screw your silenced scoped assault rifle. There's nothing personal about that. Pistols have character.
I hear that!!!
Hell yeh! I love me a grand revolver... Vash was awesome because of his skill with his gun.

Nothings more satisfying than being on a massive kill spree in CoD4 and after running out of ammo for you primary weapon, pulling out my pistol and bagging myself a few more kills (on the ocassion I'm thinking of I got a kill streak of 18 of which at least 4 of them were pistol kills) :)

CoD4 (it does seem popular with the pistol fans). Came to a corner in Overgrown to run head on into an enemy. We panicked, both of us being n00bs, and sprayed our assault rifles randomly at each other whilst manically strafing, scoring a few hits each but no kills. In the end, we had to get our pistols out, but I was sick of this. He continued to blast randomly, not even aiming, and then tried to run away, disappearing back round the corner, whilst I stopped, aimed, followed his head as it went behind the wall and BLAM, 10 points, straight the wall.

Being the mature fellow I am, I proceeded to message him insults for the next 20 minutes.
