I'm currently playing Silent Hill 2, and I'm currently stuck on a puzzle.

*POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD*

I'm in Brookhaven Hospital and I the third floor patient room door is locked with a keypad. The only clue is on the staffroom whiteboard, which says:

The code this month is "T". Last month it was "X" and before that it was "Z".

I can't figure it out!!! What does it mean?! HELP!!!

Maybe he just wanted help with that 1 puzzle, the problem with walkthroughs are once you have one you get more and more tempted to use it for anything hard

If you don't want to spoil anything with the faq- It's 7335 for easy and normal, and 1328 on hard. No idea what the clue means though, it's been too long since I played SH2.

Looks like its time for you to dust off that PS2 eh?

I Quit playing the game personally, while I understood about Fog and Atmosphere... the fog is so thick i was having issues seeing where I was going xD

Spot the player!

I'm not bashing the game, the story seems interesting to me and what nots but the fog! GAHHHH

Also not to mention my PS2 Controller broke so I had to stop playing my replacement arrived but my attention has been distracted to other games atm

*rolls eyes* My copy is at Grandma's house. Sure, I could drive the 5 miles, break in, scare the angry old bat half to death, get the game, drive home, play to that point and explain it to the OP. Or I can just gamefaqs it and hope that I'm right.

Although.. I'm like 40 minutes from beating Okami.. so maybe I should dust it off.

The fog is an aesthetic/mood thing. Think of it like this- It's not so much, "I can't see where I'm going." but more, "I can't see what's out there." Pretty sure the Japanese have like some sort of.. mist-fetish-thing when it comes to horror games. Every Silent Hill, Siren, Fatal Frame all have it.

Hehe true (Fatal Frame being my fav Survival Horror) but I think they could have toned it down just a tad to I could at least see myself in some angles xD

Its numeric code? A=1 B=2 C=3 and so on, or your missing a clue
It's much simpler than that. The hint is 'T', now go to the keypad (which is 3x3) and trace a capital T on it: 13 makes the top line, 28 makes the vertical line, you just have to guess the order.

That lock has a much more... entertaining puzzle in Silent Hill 3, on Hard puzzle difficulty.

Not really. Fog was because of a hardware limitation on both PSX and PS2, that limited the amount of rendering it could do at the time, so the devs figured "ok, let's set some fog in and add a mysterious layer to the game". And it ended up like that. It's worked wonders for me, since it really adds up to the tension of the game. I mean, I KNOW there's something out there, the damn radio is telling me so. So why can't I see it? I can't see anything, I can barely see my feHOLYSHIETTHEREITIS!!!

Hoo boy, it's very Silent Hilly. Here's the "clue" itself, spoilered for graphic brutality:

Pure eyes, blue like a glassy bead---
You are always looking at me
and I am always looking at you.

Ah, you're too meek ---
beautiful, unspoiled:
thus I'm so sad, I suffer---
and so happy, it hurts.

I want to hurt you
and destroy myself
What you would think
if you knew how I felt.

Would you simply smile,
not saying a word?
Even curses from your mouth
would be as beautiful as pearls.

I place my left hand on your
face as though we were to kiss.
Then I suddenly shove my thumb
deep into your eyesocket.
Abruptly, decisively,
like drilling a hole.

And what would it feel like?
Like jelly?
Trembling with ecstasy, I obscenely
mix it around and around: I must
taste the warmth of your blood.

How would you scream?
Would you shriek "It hurts!
It hurts!" as cinnabar-red tears
stream from your crushed eye?

You can't know the maddening
hunger I've felt in the midst of
our kisses, so many of them
I've lost count.

As though drinking in your cries,
I bring my hopes to fruition:
biting your tongue, shredding it,
biting at your lips as if tasting
your lipstick.

Oh, what euphoric heights I would
reach, having my desires fulfilled
like a greedy, gluttonous cur.

I longed, too, for your cherry-tinted
cheeks, tasty enough to bewitch my
tongue.
I would surely be healed,
and would cry like a child.

And how is your tender ear?
It brushes against my cheek;
I want it to creep up to my lips so
I can sink my teeth into its flesh.

Your left ear, always hearing words
whispered sweet as pie ---
I want it to hear my true feelings.
I never lied, no...
but I did have my secrets.

Ah, but what must you think of me?
Do you hate me? Are you afraid?
As though inviting you to the agony
at the play's end; if you wish, you
could destroy me --- I wouldn't care.

As you wish, you may destroy me
--- I wouldn't care.

The solution is pretty much the same though, trace stuff on the 3x3 keypad.
