There is very little difference between the HD and original.

I loved the originals and recently got the HD collection and besides a little bit of fog missing in some scenes it's no bloody different.
...your kidding me right?? removing all of the fog ruins the game or atmosphere silent hill is trying create. Now if you have an xbox with no other way of getting it fine however if you have ps3 or ps2 re buy the original games for the love god. Seeing the actual textures they couldn't render like a rope stuck out to shore is crappy then comes the horrible lag and crashes it suffers.

The fog is more or less the same as the originals throughout the game barring a few cut scenes.

People see a few screenshots and go on like the fogs gone throughout the game, it hasn't.

And what lag and crashes?

mainly crash dumps where your ps3 freezes up and you have to reboot or it lags when running away from pyramid head in two I haven't tried three yet but there are some other noticeable things as well. Listen if you personally are not having any trouble then great but every-time I try to play it crashes more then Bethesda game on release date

I've gone through 2 and 3 (on PS3) and had no issues at all.

I've only seen the HD in screen shots, but I don't think I can buy into a rerelease where the original artist is surprised it turned out like it did.

The game play is untouched, I've read some things about there being no fog in the HD versions and people say that that makes it less scary, I'd say you'd probably still enjoy them though.
the fog looks like it's still there but I've only played the HD version.

Ahhh those crashes.

I get them all the time on my PS3. Seems every game I play crashes it at some point I just put it down to my console being a pain in the arse.

I didn't notice it on SH2 mainly due to it freezing up on other games so, like I say, I put it down to my PS3 being a tit.

Haven't had the lag thingy though so i've probably been lucky there.

I didn't notice any problems in 3 except the odd freeze.

I couldn't blame the game for them though because it happens with quite a few of my games.

Somehow i dont think all the things people showed him were true. A lot of the "problems" i never experienced myself. So i'm thinking they are just playing it up. It must be so small i never saw it.

The HD Collection is great, aside from some sound issues (Silent Hill 3 crashed once on my playthrough, but I count that as a fluke). The supposed massive lack of fog is likely a PS3 issue because I played it on the Xbox, and there was a shitton of fog. That said, the boat section does look awful, but it only lasts for around two minutes.

Also, I get the 'atmosphere ruining' thing, but removing some fog should not ruin a fantastically creepy game. Around 70% of the game is set indoors anyway.

My point is, that series of screenshots posted by Cecil are inaccurate for the Xbox version. I've seen that scene on my own TV and it looks nowhere near as bad as that.

I also do want to get it, but I fear it might suck. "HD" isn't worth anything much in my books if they really did remove the fog and don't plan on putting it back in.

I also fear they might have removed the knife-wielding babies from hell.

As long as the above bits are not properly addressed/answered, I'll just wait and see.

I finished SH3 just a few days ago. Which characters body disappears? I don't remember that happening.
Spoiler for those who have not beat the game :)

When Vincent is killed. In the original game, you could check his body before jumping down the hall. Heather says something along the lines of, "He was a jerk, but he didn't deserve that." I can't really remember. I walked around for a bit trying to find his body in the HD collection, and it was gone. Which was really weird, considering a dead body shouldn't move--well, at least not that quickly anyway.

I do believe he is mixing up the opening enemies in Silent Hill. Though I've never played it, I have seen gameplay and the first enemies that attack you are babies with blades.
