So my school has taken it upon itself to block every non-education website using the iBoss filter. Sadly this conflicts with my overall school goals. Does anyone know how to get past iBoss?

Never heard of it.... maybe if you told them it conflicted with your education and could prove it they would make an exception.

Stop trying to go on sites you aren't supposed to at school. Save them for when you are at home.

Failing that, find a good proxy site and stick with it until your school catches on. Then find another one and repeat the process until school is over.

A proxy (server) will fetch webpages for you through caching them and showing you the cached page on their website, with the point here being that the proxy isn't restricted and hopefully you aren't restricted from visiting proxies. Proxy servers on the internet are a dime a dozen.

They fucking blocked wikipedia! Im not trying to look at pr0nz at school, I merely need to be able to do school related projects without having to spend half an hour trying to find school approved sites.

To be fair, Wikipedia isn't really a site you want to be including in your reference list. At my school, they dock you a mark for having it there.

Don't know what method iBoss uses to block things, but you could try running a Firefox from a flash drive, if that doesn't work on it's own the proxy addon for it will, set up your own server if you can leave a computer on at home. They aren't going to block that quickly as it's your own and not a URL.

I don't actually cite wikipedia as a source. I use it to get a background on the topic and to find solid resources by going to the bottom of the page and looking at the references.

That what I end up doing as well. Is "Answers.com" blocked?

Not sure, I've never heard of it. I'll try it out next time I'm at school. Thanks for all the help to everyone in this thread.

Translate a page using Google Translator, most security things schools use don't check anything translated.

Haha, I have a similar story. In 6th grade, my friend was joking saying that pen-island.com was a good game site for school. Of course, most caught on and knew it meant penis-land.com. Except for one person, who actually did that, but I don't think he was caught.

I have no clue how to bypass school-censors, so I'm no help.

Since it's story time, back in in 8th grade for me, if you went to Altavista.com, go to images, and searched for "lobster" a naked girl would pop up holding two giant lobsters...lol
