So my school has taken it upon itself to block every non-education website using the iBoss filter. Sadly this conflicts with my overall school goals. Does anyone know how to get past iBoss?

Lol at school filters. My friend was next to me IN ELEMENTERY SCHOOL and he typed in what he thought was ask.com. Turns out he hit "ass.com"

It was a pornsite and unblocked.

WTF THEY BLOCK GAMES BUT PORN IS FINE?!?!
I did that in high school, me and a mate were just messing around and i said "Do you reckon ass.com exists?"
BAM,popups everywhere while the teacher was right next to me, facing away. I have never clicked so fast in my life.

If your school is anything like MY school, they only block the web address, and not even https.change the url to https, which works for a few sites, but you can ping websites in command prompt to get their IP adress. you save a notepad document a certain way with the right words (I forget what they are) as a .bat I think, then open it, and it runs in command prompt and shows you the IP address. Copy and paste the IP into your address bar. This works for some sites.

However, neither of these work, for example, on Youtube.com. The HTTPs method takes you to google.com, as does the IP.

You could also just figure out a teacher or admin password and type it in when you need to get on a sight. Or figure out how to make your own school account an administrator, like we did.

EDIT: We don't have iboss, we're working with barracuda.

I suffer the same problem, I can't help you.
Word of warning, the teachers can look at your screen from the main computer.
Also clear your history after each session, the teachers wont know what sites the students frequent often then.
Depends. If it was like my old tech teacher, who was a Mac lover, but lulzaly didn't know about the Time Machine function in Lepord, and lost half of her grade data for like 99% of her classes, then yea you'd probably have to worry about her watching. Supposively, there isn't any "monitoring" software for Windows like there was for the Mac side, but meh. Ksoanyway:
_____
Hmm. Well, the iBoss is hardware based from what I know, so can't be fooled that easily with a program. There's one place you could try:
http://proxy.org/
Probably would be better to make a list like at home and then try it at like the library or some place where you can access a computer without to much interupption. Most of the time, like stated, they block http, not https, so you'd wanna try those. Won't have flash or anything, but if it's just for Wikipedia, it'll all be good.

Just disable it - It isnt even remotely difficult, and if it does give you grief, disable the internet, then uninstall it from the Command Prompt, and block it with whatever firewall's installed.
Works every time.

happened to me at my school, but in the worst way possible. All the Library computers had a generic blocker installed, straight from the Catholic School board, and blocked anything related to games, violence and sex/nudity. Also, all videos. Period. And as an a result of to much time on their hands, the librarian s decided to go through and pick out which sites students frequent and block them all. Including the educational ones, if they weren't glaringly obvious. We had to start a petition to let Wiki be used again.
Ot; All I know is that if you want to get around the system, use a proxy server, which you can google.....unless they blocked that too.
Or, sometimes it was a simple matter of adding http:// in front of the address. How I got facebook working.

Yeah, schools can get a bit zealous about that. I mean in an elementary school, and even jr. high, it could make sense (and I understand blocking porn and such in all levels of school). But in high school and from then on, it's just stupid. It often conflicts with schoolwork, and really, it is our responsibility at that point to take our education into our own hands. If we get an F on something 'cause we were on Facebook when we should have been paying attention or working on a project, it's our own fault.

I've encountered one that won't let you use the word "Model" if your looking up cars(I.e Ford MODEL T) because it's classified as "fashion", and if you're looking up medival medicine, you're fucked there too becuase it classifies "Humors" as blocked. Seriously, who blocks humor? The crossbreed of Skeletor and Jack Thompson?

2. Open chosen browser on classroom computer
3. ?
4. Profit

Friends of mine at school used something they called a "HTTP Tunneler", unfortunatly I've got no idea what that is. All I know is that it let them get through the school's own proxy server (they TRIED to make us pay them before they gave us the server information. They didn't seem to realise that all both of the kids who bought it at full price could SEE the info and sold it to the other kids for 10p if they didn't just give it away) and through the website blocker to an extent that they could play MMORPGs through it, albiet very slowly.
