Frampton Comes Alive - Peter Frampton

Cannot get enough of that album. Every time I listen to a track on that album, I hear something new, which I guess means I'm starting to listen to it a bit much. I really love that album. Soon, I'll get to actually Frampton perform it. And then I'll die, because I've done all I really wanted to do in my life after seeing him live!

There's Live at Leeds by The Who which is alright. They have a live rendition of Tommy, which is pretty cool.

I guess the cool thing about live albums is that they're really "best of albums" but a lot more fun to listen to!

Damn ninja'd by the first poster.

Pulse is just too phenomenal, I'm normally into heavier music but the atmosphere of Pulse is incredible. Its like they find notes no-one has ever used before!
It's my favourite album, live or otherwise, and it houses my favourite version of my favourite song - 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond'

"remember when you were young? you shone like the sun.."
'Shine... On... You cra-zy Dia-mond? dah dah dah dahhh'

You my friend, are the first poster to make me start singing out loud. *Tips hat to you*

The first half of Cult of Luna's Fire Was Born is fantastic. Pity it tapers off a bit in the second half, but it's worth the tenner just for the first 4 tracks.
I was going to say this album aswell, I just thought not many of the people of the escapist will know who they are... Cult Of Luna rule, though havn't listened to them as much as the Floyd.

@Johnmw; Check out Cult Of Luna if you havn't already... Provided that when you said heavier music, you ment METAL! This band is one of the few Floydish Metal bands... Check out the Epic track 'Echoes'

Pendulum - Live @ Brixton

Always gets me back into the groove of their live shows. And it's music that really speaks to me somehow.

Absent Lovers by King Crimson
Live At Winerland by Janis Joplin/Big Brother & The Holding Company
Space Ritual by Hawkwind

I don't listen to many live albums, but these do a good job showing their chops.

I'd have to go with Pink Floyd's 'Pulse'... It's just to good to hear all those classic Floyd tracks, played and sung perfectly, with such an intense atmosphere. Great album, also great DVD.
This. Not much else I can add to that, besides...

Briefcase Full of Blues, by the Blues Brothers.

Though mostly a cover album, it just has a great energy and hilarity to it. Not to mention some really classic blues and soul songs. Love it.

The Eagles - Eagles Live, if nothing else, for Seven Bridges Road

I have copies of the 2007 and 2008 Project Revolution Tours Linkin Park performance from the Charlotte, NC show. You buy the download code at the souvenir stand and download a professionally mastered recording of the show a few weeks later. It's great having them to remember being at the show. I wish I had it for Project Revolution 2004, 2007 was the first year they started doing it.

Saxon - The Eagle Has Landed part II double live album. Overall solid performance of my favorite Saxon tunes. Also, Yngwie Malmsteen has a guest appearance in one of the songs on the second disc.

I'd have to with either Daft Punk's masterpiece Alive 2007 or Muse's magnificent H.A.A.R.P. (Live From Wembley Stadium).

Those two are, of all the live albums I own, the ones that get the most play time. It's hard to pick a favourite of two such stellar works, but gun-to-my-head I'd have to go with Alive 2007. Those goddamn mixes...

The Last Waltz barely counts as a live album with everything they did to it afterward, if I didn't pick that it'd be a three-way tie between Live at Leeds, The Fillmore Concerts and The Name of This Band is Talking Heads.

EDIT: I also am a big RBF fan, but I didn't want to say the same thing as the OP.

Not sure if it counts, but Led Zeppelin at Earl's Court 1974 is legendary. Indeed a lot of the old bootlegs are noteworthy as well.
Actually, that's 1975. :)

My favourite is The Song Remains The Same, by the very same band. The Stairway to Heaven performance on that is the most beautiful piece of music I've ever heard.
the keys are right next to each other, give me a break! :p

The Song Remains The Same is also legendary. Come to think of it, did Led Zeppelin ever do anything that wasn't legendary?

I'd have to say either Dropkick Murphys' Live at the St. Patrick's Day Parade or Barenaked Ladies' Rock Spectacle. Both wonderful albums, period, and amazing for live stuff.

Dream Theater's "Live at the Budokan" is impressive, to say the least. Nearly studio worthy sound/production with some epic improv and jamming added to a few tracks. Sweet.

Black Sabbath's "Reunion" album was pretty excellent too.
