Hehe, its funny how people like to think that their personal feelings matter.

Too bad its all about the green (or whatever colour a country's money is. The Simpsons are marketable. Either:
1)Shut the hell up about it and get used it to it, cause no one wants to hear you have a pity party.
2)Shut the hell up about it and stop watching it, cause no one wants to hear you have a pity party.

I liked the series when it had logical progressive stories, now it's all just a bunch of "waaaaaacky random humour!!!!" I still sometimes laugh at the newer stuff, but it definetly feels hollow to me now.

it's a shame really. to see a show you liked for so long get turned into something so mediocre. I've watched the Simpsons ever since i was a kid, but now i tend to avoid it. it's the reason why i don't watch fox Sundays anymore. it's like skipping class because you know "that one guy" is gonna be there.

I have to agree, it really does need to stop. I adore The Simpsons. I practically grew up on the show. However, at this point Fox is basically beating a dead horse by dragging it on this long. (maybe they hope to beat it "back to life")

However, I have say one thing:

It took The Simpsons over ten seasons to get bad.
Family Guy did it in one.

the simpsons simply got old, and its not because something got changed(family guy, where are my fucking flashbacks?) its because its 21 fucking seasons old... YOU CANNOT MAKE A SHOW LAST THAT FUCKING LONG

I think the simpsons should grow older as a new direction for the show. Yes you can argue that the show works because of it's agelessness it needs to do something new realistically, and I think that is the best way to go. Gradually let them all get older. Maggie could go through childhood, Lisa and Bart through puberty, maybe grampa could die. It was started as a pisstake of sitcoms so, it makes sense that they grow older now. It might not work, but it might just. There is potential financial harm in doing so though so it will never happen... oh well.

Don't agree. A lot of us here find the over all quality of the show went down hill after the 10th season. Actors or writers ran out of ideas or changed, something changed either way, and it just didn't work as well.

I agree the humour changed a bit after the 1st season but I reckon it was still pretty good till the 5th or 6th season.

I can tell a difference in quality between older seasons (3-7 were my favourites) and newer ones. However, I do enjoy the new ones immensely, and have gotten tonnes of chuckles out of them.

Family guy on the other hand has never been funny.

maybe its just that you are growing up and your tastes are changing. like you said most people under 20 propably grew up watching the simpsons. name another activity or show that you liked when you were 5 or 10 and still like now? nothing comes to my mind. i still find the simpsons funny and ill watch them but if i have anything else to do at the time ill record and watch it later.

Pokemon, I was 8 when they first came out. Still enjoy it, the tv show has gotten pretty silly, but I still watch (not weekly or anything, but usually in a group of 10 or so episodes)

Been watching the show since it started, and while it certainly has had its atrocious years, it's not as bad as the folks who routinely ***** about it like to make us all believe.
Sure it was better back in the day, but I'd still take it over 95% of network television.

Folks just like to gripe about something, and since The Simpsons is still popular, it has a big target. *shrug*
How could I not respond to this. A person that thinks he knows better than everyone else, because anyone who BITCHES about the new episodes must like GRIPING about things.

Folks just like to disrespect eachother because their opinion is different, and since The Simpsons is still popular it should be deemed untouchable.

They're still make ungodly sums of money.

But yeah, the show has officially been shitty for twice the amount of time they've been amazing. Damn, I miss the Conan O'Brien years.

I still like The Simpsons...
It's kind of like a symbol of normality in the world for me. Just like how Pokemon seems to carry on forever.

All the good shows know they will need to end eventually and plan a fantastic ending. This is why Miami Vice ran for 5 seasons and was AWESOME.

I really like anime for this reason. I mean, good or bad, most anime only runs for 24-26 episodes. And anything that runs longer than 100 episodes can pretty much be auto-flagged as total crap.

Oh! Oh! I know why!

Because the world doesn't revolve around you and as long as the show continues to turn a profit, they don't give a supersonic fuck what you think!
That's also a good point. Whether or not something is good has nothing to do with whether or not it's profitable. TV shows are a business, which doesn't excuse crap but does explain its continued existence.

I'll admit that it has gone downhill but hey it's still much more entertaining than some of the crap that's on tv these days.

I'm not especially sure what season it was, but I specifically remember what happened in the start of the episode that made me think The Simpsons was just getting garbage.

Homer steals an electric bumper car from a fairground and drives down the street laughing like a moron before repeatadly smashing into wiggums car for fun.

I thought to myself..."Wtf is this shit? Homers not THAT stupid...thats something a really mentally handicapped person would do"

From that episode onwards, I hated the Simpsons. Their social commentary is no longer charming or clever, and theres a retarded focus on unfunny slapstick violence and pandering "woah look its in HD now" moments.

This is Fox we're talking about, the same idiots who canceled Firefly to make room for more shitty reality TV.
This is true. Fox will never let a show with so much selling potential die a natural death.

Also nice to see someone else who was pissed off when Firefly was canceled.

MOO!

The Simpsons has gotten so bad that it is insulting to the old episodes and the long time fans from the old days of pre-season 10.

But you know how it survives?

Even with it being so bad, so tremendously and shockingly awful, it is still better than 95% of the shit on TV.

Bad TV is what's holding back good TV. There's no competition or incentive to produce an excellent work of art. The bare minimum can provide massive sums of cash because everything else is simply not worth watching.
