You really think a lot of the people who dislike the new episodes just watch it because they want to talk shit about it? I don't know about that one. I know there is quite a few saying it's the only thing that's possible for them to watch at the moment.maninahat said:You're right, you know. It reminds me of shows on the escapist. Game Dogs would recieve hundreds of comments talking about how shit it is, presumably from people who watch it every week just to see how shit it is. The chances of a show being kept on at the escapist is based on its popularity, so when all these nay sayers continue to watch it they increase its ratings, sending the wrong message. That is why I try not to watch any Lisa Foyles' Top 5 work.emeraldrafael said:I suppose not. Appearantly it does with as much reaction I've gotten from the statement.maninahat said:By your logic I won't take your advice, seeing as how your personal feelings don't matter.emeraldrafael said:Hehe, its funny how people like to think that their personal feelings matter.
Too bad its all about the green (or whatever colour a country's money is. The Simpsons are marketable. Either:
1)Shut the hell up about it and get used it to it, cause no one wants to hear you have a pity party.
2)Shut the hell up about it and stop watching it, cause no one wants to hear you have a pity party.
Businesses just dont give two damns about any one person, or really many groups (you'd have to be big to actually impress the people at the heart of the simpsons nation). The Simpsons are like EA and activision. They package tired overdone mediocrity and know that people like us (not so much you and me us, more widescale numbers us) will jump through hoops and stand on our hind legs just to get it.
People who watch the show and complain later are trained dogs, and thats about as simple as it gets.
You always see people saying something like "I didn't think this much episode, but I'll give the show one more chance" or "Having seen every episode so far, I can say this is rubbish, and I hope it will improve". People who have false hope towards something that they know is no good, but will keep watching anyway.Nazulu said:You really think a lot of the people who dislike the new episodes just watch it because they want to talk shit about it? Well, all I can say is, Family Guy stopped being funny and the writing over all just terrible after I saw the 100th flash back joke. (which was easily within the 1st season)Nazulu said:I agree the humour changed a bit after the 1st season but I reckon it was still pretty good till the 5th or 6th season.Vigormortis said:It took The Simpsons over ten seasons to get bad.
Family Guy did it in one.
Guess it's possible for so many people like that to keep crap floating on air. Better than thinking that most people just don't have good taste.maninahat said:You always see people saying something like "I didn't think this much episode, but I'll give the show one more chance" or "Having seen every episode so far, I can say this is rubbish, and I hope it will improve". Doesn't help that Seth MacFarlane and the rest of his writers seem to have forgotten how and when to end a damn punch line. I mean, Jesus, when the punch line of your joke goes on for several minutes, you fail at humor.
Futurama is pretty popular here on the Escapist but I wouldn't count it even close to The Simpsons. I just find The Simpsons are more clever over all, so many hidden jokes my friends didn't notice the first time watching it. Also, Simpsons have some truly great quotes.Vigormortis said:However, I think it's safe to say the other shows by Matt Groening and Seth MacFarlane are much funnier than their predecessors. (Futurama and American Dad, respectively)

Don't worry. I'm not referring to any of The Simpsons seasons after 10, no friggin' way!tthor said:Nazulu said:Futurama is pretty popular here on the Escapist but I wouldn't count it even close to The Simpsons. Also, Simpsons have some truly great quotes.i honestly have no idea what you're talking about. if you have a good example, please share, cause I don't think i've ever seen the simpsons be 'clever', atleast not in the last 10 years. funny, sometimes, atleast back in the day, but i have not seen any of the newer simpsons ever be clever. Futurama, on the other hand (atleast prior to their recent season, which was kinda shit) can be truly funny and entertaining, and even at times tearjerking. Thats part of what i loved about futurama, that they could be so incredibly funny, yet occasionally have some serious moments too. but, alas, futurama seems to be going the way of the simpsons, and is already starting to rot... i pray the writers either step up their game, or put the show out of it's misery immediately so it can die with some dignity (tho i doubt either will happen...)
