Hello!

I created this topic for players like me that really enjoy managing games. (Chart Wars, TEW, GamBiz, Free Enterpri$e, Tabloid, Hockey GM, WMMA and etc...)

I was thinking, what's next? What should be the next managing game we wants?
Yes, a movie oriented one would be really good (because HollywoodMogul is well done, but just not fun) but do you have any ideas?

Well, I guess running a police department would be fun! Eehh... Sounds like Prison Tycoon.

I have found exactly the same thing, yet there is no quality at all to management games that I have found. Personally, I would like more sports management games in the vein of the Football Manager series. So...much...detail...
But yeah, you could do a lot with it. Running a police department would be pretty fun. A talent agency management sim perhaps?

There is quite alot of them. Boxing Manager, Football, Soccer, Baseball, Wrestling, MMA, Basketball, Hockey, Handball and etc... But all of them are pretty bad. TEW 2010 and Hockey GM are good, I must admit.

damn, I was kinda hoping there was a quality baseball version but I couldn't find any. I'd like to run a broadcasting simulator like running a radio/tv company. that or a game about developing games, bonus points if your workers have an existential crisis.

M.U.D T.V (or M.A.D., I can never remember which) would sate your desires for running a TV broadcasting company (although I never really got into it). Game Dev Story on iOS does a pretty good job at running a games studio as well.

I've always wanted a decent wrestling management sim, but have never been able to find a half-decent one. The closest I've come to one hasn't been updated since 2005...

hey good to see there are still people around who have an attention span for games that goes beyond the standard non-stop ironsights FPS banging ;)

the movies and hollywood pictures (german game) are the only good alternatives afaik but there are some abandonware games as well with that topic, btw you can find alot of those good old german manager games (from Software 2000, Sunflowers, Max Design etc) at abandonware sites

here is my current "wish" list:

Greydog Software is working on a Superhero Manager sort of (sounds really interesting)

the premise of managing your shelter/bastion in Fort Zombie was promising but poorly executed

a good Boxing Sport Manager would be great and a remake of NFL Head Coach (which was great for a console Manager)

a well made Gladiator manager would be fun as well (the indie game alternatives aren't that good here)

i always liked the idea of fantasy manager/strategy hybrids like stronghold (the SSI one) and Majesty

for the simulation genre i'm totally into survival-simulation games as well as "real" military simulations for the latter there are several good ones on the market but unfortunately there aren't that many survival simulations (let alone good ones)...

We could always have one where you run a fortress full of picky dwarves that have odd tastes and must be buried in a certain way and kept happy. Also they must drink beer instead of water. I am joking but I wouldn't mind the Police Academy one. I can see all the shenanigans even as I type.

Velocigames created Gambiz. It's a pretty good one (Gambiz 2, is far better than the 1st or the 3rd). I have to say that It's fun but ugly. Not that professional.

TEW 2010 is by far the best wrestling sim ever. From Greydog Softwares (Adam Ryland), the maker of Wrestling Spirit and Worlds Of MMA. But I think his games a little bit too expensive for what it is.

I wanted to keep it low for the moment, but progress make me excited!

I am, for several time now, developing a Managing Game. Titled "Hollywood Wars", it is gathering all the good elements from my favorite managing games and is really focused on being "fun-to-play". (Because in my book, Hollywood Mogul was perfectly done but was just not fun to play.)

So I invite you to my blog and/or twitter so you can follow me and the progress. (And I would enjoy your suggestions!)
