When it comes to the Games industry, there are three regions. America, Japan and Everywhere Else.

America and Japan pat themselves on the back and tell themselves how great they are, release games for their own region, occasionally for the other one, and keep their own prices lower.

Everywhere Else is given the crap that America and Japan are bored with. For higher prices and with less stuff.

It's more cynical than I usually like being, but it's broadly true.

Fixed for truth.

I will admit that America and Japan are the only real market for the production of games, Bioware (Go Canada!) and the few European developers excluded, but from what I understand, European game prices are fairly stable in comparison to American prices, and as a Canadian, I can say the same thing.

My question:

When did it become okay to sell shitty games at full price?

Seriously, we don't have a set price for Cars, why do we have one for games?
That's true, but I do know that there are some store in the US and UK and will sell various games for a few dollars cheaper (or more expensive). I actually saw a game that was 65.00 new at Wal-Mart, while being only 50.00 at Gamestop.

Maybe it just depends on where you go?

I do wish you could haggle a game from a shop owner, but thus is the world we live in.

Wouldn't using this work?
http://store.steampowered.com/?cc=us

Get steam games at USA prices because it thinks you're in the US?
Never tried it since I live in the US, just something I found a while ago on the steam forums.
I'm doing this right away. Why would I pay $90 for a game that costs $60?
Let us know if it works! :)

Steam overcharged Europe. If a game would cost 49.95$ USD, It would cost 49.95? euros to us. I think they still do it, but I'm not sure.
Last time I checked they did, yeah. Which is stupid, because that makes games bought in stores cheaper in most cases, unless there's a weekend sale or something. The only time I buy off steam now is if it's dirt cheap.
