No.

Bioshock, for one.
Deus Ex 3 is part FPS, and that's story driven.
XCOM should be.

Off the top of my head, just new Single-player focused FPS.

You start a lot of threads, don't you.

OT: Single player FPS's aren't going away. Just look at Bioshock, or Half Life 2; I know they aren't very recent, but they're not old either. There haven't been that many good ones recently, but they're not dead, or even dying.

Think harder. Or cast the net wider.

Singularity.
Metro 2033.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2
F.E.A.R (3)
Deus Ex Revolution
Homefront
[small]And shooters that work over the shoulder, but are still shooters: [/small]
Dead Space 2
Mass Effect 2/3

... etc.

Oh look, it's this thread again.

I'll do now what I always do. Tell you one of the best series of shooters out there. Although they have multiplayer, they are but an addon to a glorious game.

The S.T.A.L.K.E.R series, with S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 on the horizon.

Take the blinkers off and look around for yourself, stop quoting or paraphrasing Yahtzee. He can't experience game for you. And unless you try something other than what the media rages about you'll only ever find yourself playing COD's or Halos.

EDIT:

I got too much time on my hands atm, and somtimes that causes me to worry about pointless things and makes threads about them

Asking whether FPS games are dying is like asking if any other type of game is dying. I think fps games are just as popular as other types of games such as RTSs, third person shooters and hack and slash games too. Although at the moment there aren't a great variety of FPS games available (or rather.. talked about). That's just because of all the CoD hype at the moment. In the next few months when people truly get bored of black ops other FPS games will get discussed a lot more, and more people will take notice.

While almost every FPS dev wants to crack the MP market, the MP champions are all from companies that made their bones on single player. So single player isn't going anywhere any time soon.

But FPS are going to continue having fairly short campaigns as there's no easy way to pad out game maps. RPGs and sandbox games can have you doing fetch quests across the world map, but even the dreaded key hunts don't add more than a few minutes to a FPS level.
