Have they made the battles a smidgen faster? My problem really wasn't that the thing was slow-paced, it was that it was slow-paced in the wrong way. The fleets took an astounding amount of damage before keeling over. There have been loads of updates to it since I last played, though, so that could've changed.

It is a really fun game to play with your friends. I don't venture to play much online with people I don't know though. Depending on how you play and how big you want the universe to be it can be a really short game or a very long game. Thank god for the save feature.

Yes. It's a lot of fun. The only downside to it is that a full game usually takes a while on anything but the smallest maps, and I rarely have the patience to finish it completely.
It's a really fun game that takes MASSIVE amounts of time to play. So what this guy said.

It feels like it should be a great game, but I just haven't been able to have any fun with it. Maybe it's just too slow to keep my attention, because I usually stop playing after thirty minutes.

Since everyone is singing praises to the game, I'll point out the glaring faults:

2. Ugly. You rarely get to see the nice 3D graphics since you'll spend most of your time zoomed out and staring at tiny monocoloured icons.
You are kidding me.
If you are not zoomed in, watching the massive battles, you are just plain playing it wrong.

That said, it's a pretty fun game. The no campaign mode bit does suck, though...
Ditto. If you are staying zoomed out watching little icons, you are going to lose nearly every battle you take part in. Your large capital ships require some micro-managing, since to just let them use their super abilities on auto can spell disaster.

Small maps with about 6 planets is about the most I've ever played. And I've only played with 2 other people. But the game is extremely fun and fantastic once you get the hang of it.

And I agree - the single player experience is a little flat. You have to get up and running multiplayer ASAP.
