Sites that are blocked in your school/workplace but shouldn't be.

Google itself is blocked in my old schools network....

My school fails. With good reason. It was wrong to trust our year with 20 minutes any kind of search engine.

But then again, this was 3 years ago at least since I left school so they might have got around to fixing that....

My school used to block anything with the word "bomb" in it, and I think just about anything meaning "fight". God forbid you had history to do.

For some reason, they've managed to break the network on almost every Saturday evening so far this year. Since the techies have a weekend off, this means that it stays broken until Monday morning when they come back to work, after we've all had a Sunday without internet access.

They also block some random sites under strange categories...

I've had a page about giraffes blocked under 'dating and matrimonials', and a site about babies blocked under 'weapons'.

any website that hosts videos
any proxy server website
pretty much everything other than wikipedia, google, and online bible sites >:|

I think censorship is wrong and if I want to pollute my brain with useless nonsense then I should be able to. Damn internet nazis.

I think the "worst" website I've dared try to access on my University network was 4chan and it was either down or blocked. Not sure. I don't think anything should be blocked at the U if it is. It's a university. What if I want to research 4chan?

I didn't think anything was blocked at uni for this reason? My work block Youtube, Facebook... and hotmail?? Glad I use gmail but I never understood why they block hotmail.

In my first couple years of high school the system was fairly liberal but as the years progressed pretty much everything was blocked such as youtube, all e-mail related sites, all forums (as far as I know), and google images.

At a friend's school they blocked the home page. Which if I remember correctly you needed to log in to to access the rest of the internet. That lasted about a day.
