But Douglas Adams was so unhappy with the sombre ending of Mostly Harmless - he didn't intend for it all to end on such a downer and he did intend to write a sixth book before he died he just...well his end came before the book's could.
Eoin Colfer is a phenomenal writer (
The Supernaturalists was one of my childhood favourites) and I think if anyone can be trusted to finish it in a way that would make Douglas Adams smile, as Colfer did with many of his other novels, then it's good enough for me.
