Exact same thing here, and I'll be glad to see what the official and unofficial patches, along with the community's modding efforts, will produce. The few early reviews I've seen are gushing over the game, but they aren't addressing the OP's concerns.

Odds are I'll just shrug at something like blank-faced NPCs shouting at a dragon and say "Meh, it's a Bethsoft game. You win some, you lose some".

The solution is simple; don't play it if you don't like it, I'm sure there are a million times over the fans who will go into it and love it, no matter your complaints.
I'm pretty sure the fans will love it, considering I did like it myself.

For fuck's sakes why does everyone assume you immediately hate a game when you've got some complaints?
If you don't hate it what the hell are you doing on here whining about it?
Tell us it's good features then, if you do actually like it, the question still remains though, if you like it what are you doing sitting here complaining about it?
The good: it looks beautiful. Graphics are amazing and the landscapes are breathtaking.
The soundtrack is even better than most people thought it would be. There's the orchestral bombast Soule does so well, but this time also the little ambient themes are more creative and fun than ever before. Also the voice acting this time is not shit.

And what am I doing here complaining about it? I'm sitting here complaining about the things I don't like. Is that seriously so bad? Skyrim is not a perfect game for the reasons I stated. That's a pretty valid excuse for a thread.

Because that'll teach you not to vent your disappointments, darnit. Personal attacks is the only reasonable reaction to possibly unpleasant news.

Anyway, I really, really, really hope that you're either baldfacedly lying, or hallucinating. I don't think I'd be able to handle a reality where Skyrim turns out to be anything but gold-encrusted awesome.

To be fair, they did improve one thing, voice actors. Didn't that recent Sound of Skyrim video say they now had 70 actors instead of 12 or something? That's a big improvement.

At the end of the day I've waited five years to play Oblivion in Skyrim... y'know?

How much variety is there in the landscape. Oblivion and Fallout3's worlds ultimately bored me with the endless copy-pasting/ reuse of assets.

With only a 6GB filesize I figure either texture resolution or the number of unique assets must be limited.

I don't think any (or many, as the case may be) of us can debate this with you as the game hasn't been officially released yet. Let me get back to you on this.
This below you answers your question.

You should probably have waited till Friday to make this thread. People would be able to discuss it with you then.
I'm a journalist (okay, final year journalism student, almost the same thing). I bring news.
And he did a damn well good job of it.

I'm sorry, but the only thing that makes me happy in this situation, since I can never say it is, I TOLD YOU SO! I was right on my guess that it would be Oblivion with a new coat of paint and some brand new, rather small, features. But I'm sure all the people who want it will enjoy it to death, like they should.

I wanted to just say "Lol" and then walk away but, I wont.

Bluntly stop being a shit stirer, wait the game is out. Because until then opinions like this have no valildity.
If you had read the thread, you could have seen that the game has been released in some areas early.
Or it could be that very few people believe you?

It's because it's the same game as Oblivion, on the same platform, on the same engine. It's just a heavily modded Oblivion.

This I really cannot answer yet. I saw a few camps and a few towns and two dungeons. The camps all have the same copy-pasted watch towers, which is not that bad. The landscape itself is reasonably varied. Lots of mountains, grassy fields, mountain creeks and sometimes even stuff that indicated a dragon passed through (can't really say more without spoiling).

I have no idea how varied the world actually is, mainly because I only played for three, four hours.

Pretty much this.

Also, I'm not an ungrateful whiner that demands more than current technology and consoles can produce.
I am an ungrateful whiner who demands more than what current consoles can produce. I hadn't really been following Skyrim very closely, because I got bored after a couple dozen hours of Oblivion and never finished the main storyline or any of the major alternate ones (Mages' Guild, etc.), but I started looking into it a little bit more this week with it coming out so soon. In the trailers and any videos that show gameplay footage it looks absolutely archaic and a generation behind compared to what I'm used to my PC games being able to do now. It looks prettier than a stock version of Oblivion, but it doesn't look a whole lot better than Oblivion with mods in some ways, and the combat and stuff like that definitely doesn't look any better than what mods can do to Oblivion. Of course, it was an enormous pain in the ass to install all those mods, but that's still kind of sad that everything looks like it plays just as clunkily as it always has.

When the hyperbolic claims are not in line with the reality, then yes. It becomes obvious.

Sounds like Bethesda still haven't got the knack for making NPC's feel alive. Bum.

The game has literally hundreds of hours of gameplay, and you're here describing a day's worth of play at most.

Yeah.

Sorry but I just can't wholeheartedly take your judgement as full and fair here. Especially not with a game that's supposed to be as massive in size as Skyrim.

That'd be like me bashing GTA4 after playing just the first 6 missions.

Edit:
OP: You've said in a previous post that you've only played for 3-4 hours. How can you judge this game as "outdated" based on that?

Its outdated because of bad animations, supposedly bad physics and bad AI (not sure if you are confusing bad animations with AI but whatever)

Well then... this game must be terrible I'll take your word for it.

Having watched several easily available streams of the leaked 360 version, I can safely say he's telling the truth. He's not even that flustered by what he's complaining about, yet the uninformed are coming out the woodwork crying 'Troll!'.

Oh my good lord does no one READ on these forums!?

I'm addressing stuff that is part of the game's core. The animations, AI, physics, stuff like that. Stuff that's the same in the introduction as it will be in the end-game. I think those could've been done better.

Of course fucking of course the game is massive, that's why I didn't even comment on missions, world, storyline or anything like that whatsoever, because that would've been bullshit indeed.
