Yeah, I guess you have a point. Still feels wrong though.Doom-Slayer said:Well hes a QA tester. Isn't the whole point of a Bethesda style game to explore the terrain, find hidden secret stories told through the environment and experience the rich expanse of side quests and adventures to be had that have nothing to do with the main quest? I put hundreds of hours into Oblivion, and I fully anticipate putting hundreds more into Skyrim. I mean I get the idea of a speed run, but with a game like this, that almost doesn't seem like an accomplishment.
EDIT: Or at the very least it defeats the purpose...
I was originally going to go with "SKYRIM ONLY 2 HOURS LONG! OH GOD!" but decided to err on the side of professionalism.Yokai said:Now there's a post title designed to get as many hits as possible.
Escapist: Skyrim Beaten In Just Over Two Hours
Frothing Neckbeards: WTF IS THIS MADNESS? I MUST CLICK AND FIND OUT
Well, safe to say when Skyrim comes out I'll be taking my sweet time. I spent three months playing Oblivion before I beat the main quest, and another year to get through Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine.
You won't be speedrunning, of course, and this really isn't a game I picture many people rushing.SomeLameStuff said:2 hours huh? I'll count myself lucky if I finish the game in two months.
Oh it definatly ismoose49408 said:Yeah, I guess you have a point. Still feels wrong though.![]()
But its really easy to be that guy. =PGrey_Focks said:...don't be that guy. Two very different kinds of RPG and what have you...though Dark Souls is really awesome (35 hours, myself), but this is not the time nor place to talk about it.Igen said:20+ hours into Dark Souls, about half way through. Might pick up Skyrim once its discounted.
OT: Yea, I figured as such. Hell, same could probably be said for Oblivion and Fallout 3, and I know for a fact it was possible to "beat" Morrowind in something crazy like 10 minutes.
It's all the side stuff that's going to provide the hundreds of hours of playtime.
Fine Fine...it will take me some time to focus on the MANLY DETAILS and such...ya know...MANLY FACIAL HAIR and the such....Jadak said:Not likely, last I heard you won't be picking any skills, not as part of the creation process. So all you've got is the character's physical traits to kill 2 hours onLt. Vinciti said:Its going to take me that long to make my character and pick my skills....![]()
Well he was one of the people designing the game and therefore probably knew how to prepare for the main quests, where to find good weapons, what skills to focus on. To use your metaphor it is more like the person who designed the matress focusing all his attention on the spots that he knows will break and in that case it holding up two days is impressive.Daaaah Whoosh said:I don't understand how it's a good thing that he beat the game so fast. It's like someone getting an award for breaking a matress in two days. Sure, he was probably having sex with an elephant on it, but why would you buy a matress if you know it can get worn out in just two days?
Normally, yes. But this is a QA tester, which means he's probably seen every single thing in Skyrim many times over.moose49408 said:Why would anyone try to beat the game that fast? Well, he's being paid for it, he's probably going to win a small prize for being the fastest. He gets some internet fame. He needs to work through a game quickly in order to make sure there are no bugs. He has as the article stated played the game for a year and been helping out with designing it so it's not like he's going to be surprised by anything.moose49408 said:Why would anyone try to beat the game that fast?
