A rather resourceful Modder has turned everyones most hated suggestion about Skyrim true.

Multiplayer

The Skyrim Online mod for PC is currently in alpha stages and only allows you to see other players and chat with them right now. The animations are stuck in the default position and a few other problems, you do have a friends list though.

Some damn resourceful modders. You have to mod your config files so you may want to back it up of you want to try it later.

You can find it here [http://www.gamefront.com/files/21090885/SkyrimOnline_Launcher_3592_1_rar] if you're interested.

Should be something to keep track of.

Why not? The game already has followers in it. Why not make your follower a friend who won't constantly get in your way?

I'd be willing to give it a try, but my expectations are very low. So far, I've only ever found one game to be enjoyable at multiplayer, so who knows.

Behold: What could be the absolute worst potential multiplayer experience this side of New Super Mario Bros.

An innately buggy game that was explicitly designed for multiplayer.
Combined with incredible potential for griefing.

The horror. And hilarity.

I was thinking the same thing unless they do a default armor like they do with the housecarls. I have a nude mod and one that i can swap my housecarls armor. if i strip a housecarl to nothing she/he will magicly be wearing those clothes that Maven Blackbriar wears. Yes I know I can get another swap mod that doesnt include hidden clothes but i kinda like it when they wear something comfortable at home instead of nothing at all.

I am not going to use this one but the Tytanis version that will be included in his mod pack:

Freeworld, co-op, and arena. I can see freeworld being good fun to be going to a dungeon or exploring and run across some other players. will they be friendly or will they try to gank me/us? How about groups of players take over a fort and other groups try to take it from them? That would be pretty awesome to witness. but a must would be fast travel is disabled and you reswpawn in 1 of the main cities at a "home" you own. That way there is a very real possibilty that the fort could be lost and there would be no spawn camping base rape bullshit FPS games have. Could be some epic wars if they include Stormcloak/Imperial factions or it could devolve into complete chaos because everyone became a thieving bandit ganker.

Fact is everyone thinks the Stormcloak and Imperial civil war was weak, and having an open world PvE mod with those as factions could very well fix it. and anyone that doesnt choose a side could be a mercenary, thief for hire, assassin, or even a bandit if ganking players alongside a road is your cup of tea. Plus there are plenty of ruined forts that could be used by any faction as well as the many camps scattered about.

Co-op not so much interested in it unless they revise the story or create all new quest lines for co-op. and I have no interest at all in Arena PvP.

I like the idea of a Skyrim multiplayer, but only in certain ways. For example, a drop-in/drop-out style of play where my friends could "drop-in" and be a static follower. Every time James "drops-in" to my game he appears at the same spot and his stats are the same as his character in his game.

So I could "drop-in" to my wife's game and she could recruit me as a follower and together we could tackle some challenges. The quest would only be completed for the actual player, while the player that had "dropped in" would keep their statistics to use in their actual game.

I also like the idea of expanding the Civil War story. I would be worried about someone completing all the quests before I can get to them.

It could be a single-player game, but the city of Helgen, or something like that, could be a staging ground for "multiplayer" where it would be a persistent multiplayer area and you could ask one or two people to join you in your single player world, kinda like drop-in/drop-out.

I don't know, what do you think? And didn't someone try to do a drop-in/drop-out a while ago.

TL;DR - Drop-in/Drop-out and one small multiplayer area.

I honestly don't count Co-op as multiplayer. If you know the other players and are cooperatively working towards a common goal, it's essentially singleplayer, only with friends. So....I approve of this mod because I realize how awesome fun this would be to play.

I think what you mean is if they turned skyrim into a bland MMO, where you do random quests and raids with random people you don't know, or if they made it a competitive multiplayer game, ala COD with swords. Now THAT would suck balls. This is fine.

Meh, co-op isn't blasphemy.

It's full on mmo style that is blasphemy, I can see co-op with a friend working fine it's just that making the elder scrolls full on multiplayer would mean losing a lot of what makes it special i.e: persistance and the ability to off just about anyone minus a few essential characters.

2~4 player co-op in Skyrim is something I'd really like to see officially implemented. There'd be challenges to overcome in creating it, certainly, and they'd have to ensure that any additional content released for co-op play is equally playable in single player (lest the BAAWWWWWWWWing from the single-player-only crowd become deafening), but it could be done, and it could be great.

Being able to drop in and out of each other's worlds to help out with quests, maybe trade items or just dick around would be fantastic fun. I don't want to see the Elder Scrolls series go full Borderlands or whatever, but - in my opinion at least - the land of Skyrim is begging to be explored with friends.

This! If you can already have two fully active characters (you and follower) why cant at least we get two player co-op?
