You've killed millions of adults in videogames. Something neither you or I would do in real life. Yet we do in it in a video game without a second thought. Now tell me, logically, why killing pixels of children instead of killing pixels of adults is any different?
To give you an honest answer, I personally think it is due to the underlying instinct some people have to protect those who can't adequately stand up for themselves. It may be an outdated concept, but that's my thinking.
Apart from the fact that most innocent adult NPCs that can be killed have about the same chance of resisting your character as an innocent child NPC.

As for this question, why is it morally wrong to kill a child in skyrim, well if we were being super practical about things then I'd say that since the guards attack you if you do it then it I would consider it a taboo - if not outright illegal (though I assume it is)- and immoral to kill a child. Fair enough?
The same goes with killing anybody. Should one not be allowed to kill in Skyrim due to the law? The player then loses the whole option of being evil.

Ps. I offered an olive branch with that last post, it's douchey that you threw it back in my face.
Offered, yes. But if you come off as a jerk it doesn't matter what you say. You may have actually meant to end it. I don't know. "A refuge of the damned?" I was just making sure you didn't blow a capillary over something so trivial. Turning that on it's head and telling me I'm desperate was a swing, whether you realized it or not.

I don't really care all that much about the actual issue. If you don't like the concept, fine. But if you're going to attack me... Well I'm obviously going to fight back. So, I accept your offer and will go quietly but only because my investment in the subject is relatively low. I'll have my simplistic (and definitely biased) opinion and you'll have your paranoid opinion. Cool?

Ive never seen a problem with it.

Children are people. >.>;
Humans die. Children die. There are children dying right now this very second. Children starving all across the world.

Sure, its not tasteful in any way imaginable, and even if i had skyrim for PC i wouldnt install it, but i see nothing wrong with it.

And the developer goes "well that happened... so what's next on our list?"

Whoo, you got your child killing mod. Go enjoy your slaughter I couldn't care any less. You let yourselves get emotionally manipulated by a cloud of ones and zeros.

I'm sure the developer would have done this if they felt it would go over smoothly but most of the world still takes issue with murdering children, simulated or otherwise. I never given a crap because weither or not a murder a certain number of NPCs means nothing to me in the end.

Maybe now I can actually steal my money back from Babette instead of actually having to pay her to train me in alchemy.
Because that is fucking expensive.

For me, it's an issue of immersion. It takes me out of the game when I can do awful things without consequence.

Downloaded this mod ages ago.

It. Is. Splendid.

Now, when I decide to go on a killing spree, starting with the woman whose legs were clipping through her dress (which set me off), it no longer has to end with an impervious little bastard telling me repeatedly to "get away".

There's absolutely nothing wrong with this mod at all. I don't want to kill children in real life any more than I want to kill mudcrabs, dragons or peasants in real life. In my games though? Grow up. The idea of a sprite being impervious for moral reasons is pathetic.

Good. I'll download it when I get back from school. However, I do remember when I accidentally wiped out all of Megaton, the children did eventually disperse. Not sure why.

Best part of this is that a human life is worth a measly 40 soverigns, 1000 for nobles, cause they are just better.
Hold on, let me get my coinpurse out, you can count these while I rack up my bill.

If anything, it makes tag more believable.

Maybe if the kids weren't such jerks people wouldn't make these as quickly :/
Ahh, so lovely.
I want to play now. =/

I dont think Bethesda needs to include it, I dont want them to include it either, if you really want to kill children that badly, then go ahead use a mod for that. The devs at Bethesda are people, people who probably arent comfortable with children dying.

I really hate how when a developer doesnt include some fucked up option people scream about how theyre being wusses, and theyre scared of the media backlash. But the truth is, they just dont want to put in fucked up options to satisfy a very small minority.

..Although yes they could make the kids a bit less annoying

"BAWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! Some kids mildly teased me and I can't sleep at night until I can murder them all for it!"

Seriously, I can't figure out if the people who like this idea are complete sociopaths or just raging pussies, because they either have an irrational hatred of children, or they can't handle some immature namecalling that any well-adjusted human being would brush off without a second thought.

Just being mean to you does not warrant this much rage, because if an adult character said the exact same things to you, I am 100% certain you would not be nearly as offended, this is why it is irrational.

Only a miniscule fraction of the people in favor of this mod feel that way because having immortal characters negatively effects the realism, in a fantasy game with magic and dragons, the rest are just bitter little douchebags who think taking this pro child murder stance will make them seem cool. Oh yeah, Bethesda made it against the rules to kill children, but you did it anyway, because you play by your own rules! Society doesn't want you to hate kids, but you do what you want, you are the bad boy that all the ladies love!

This isn't about killing mildly annoying characters that any sane person wouldn't mind, this is about challenging authority and proving to yourself that you are a badass, it's pretty damn pathetic really. Nobody would even care about killing kids if the game allowed you to, it's like if you take a toy from a toddler and they start crying even though they weren't playing with it.

If Skyrim is really so broken and insufferable because it doesn't let you murder children for the audacious atrocity of offending your delicate little southern dandy senses with some laughably weak taunts, then maybe you shouldn't be playing it in the first place. Maybe instead you can sit in the corner and cry all day about the kids who bullied you in grade school.

... And Time! I was on here and playing Skyrim the night it came out and everyone was talking about how this was going to happen. I don't see why Bethy or the modders care about what the other is doing.

The bit I'm confused about is why it's controversal to include marriage to male or female NPCs. Not exaclty on the same level as child murder ... anyway I haven't played Skyrim and I was never all that eager to go about killing the children in Fallout 3 or Oblivion but presumably this also means that if a dragon lands on their doorstep and flames their house they'll survive? Which would seem a little odd.

Bethesda care because it's their game, meaning some dumbfuck news finder person will see 'Skyrim Child Killing' and think 'Bethesda lets you MURDER THE FUCK OUT OF CHILDREN'

Finally, I mean not that I do this a lot, and probably won't take the time to install the mod. It would be nice to go in town and if I decided to kill the whole lot of them for calling me a racist term cause I'm a Kajiti. Not to have the little kids running around. That I have to use the console to disable. I mean I don't want them to grow up to come after me....Maybe I take the "role playing" in RPG too seriously.

Part of me thinks Bethesda did it this way to play it safe. If they make it possible to kill children in their own game, it may potentially cause problems for them; negative publicity or censorship at the least, and worst case scenario, a law suit of some kind. People have sued companies for less. It's already an R18 game, or whatever the rating is called over yonder, but why push sensitive buttons if you can let third party modders do it for you? And they probably knew they would

Being as big into establishing modding communities around their games as Bethesda is, it is no surprise that some kid would eventually come forth and do Bethesda's work for them. The public gets their shot at killing kids, and Bethesda gets deniability. It'll be the same for all the nudity and porn mods that will inevitably come.
