January isn't soon. A few days from now would be soon. January is a full month away, and even then they could release it at the end of January making it 2 months. Then you have to wait a few weeks for the real mods to trickle in and get voted to a position where you would actually bother trying them.
Agree :/. Bethesda has spoiled PC-gamers with timely editors in the past, so now I'm probably feeling all entitled...

But 2 months isn't soon, given that the 3 week wait since it's release has been agonizing enough.

I'm not liking this. Integrating mods with Steam sounds like a business strategy to knock out the Nexus, and Steam will almost certainly dictate what we can and cannot make or add into our versions of Skyrim (armor/weapon/character designs from other games, nude models, etc... stuff many like or don't mind too much).

I'm just anxious to know if they've fix the 360 glitch that breaks the Thieves Guild quest line. I'd really like to play a run of that guild at some point.
What glitch is that? And does it happen on the PS3 as well? Oh, I better not be cheated out of my trophy.

I want them to fix the armor resistances. Hell, I want them to fix resistance period. I am getting stomped by dragons and normal mages alike. I had gear that resisted everything rather nicely. Hitting me with an ice attack was like flicking my arm. Then the patch came out. Not only do armor resistances no longer work, but it seems like drinking potions no longer work either. Dragons now strike fear into my soul, something they haven't done since I was level 10ish, and I'm level 56 now.
Please fix this bug. I can live with everything else (would prefer to have them fixed though), but this needed to be changed back.
So far its just listed as 360 so you should be good.

Basically the gist of it all is that if you delay talking to the person that activates like the second Thieve's guild quest, the one after burning the honey farm, the quest likes to delete itself and then you can never resume the questline. So basically my thief/assassin character can't become lead of the goddamn thieves guild
Fearing a glitch, I went to start the thieves guild quest. Nope. I suffer from a different glitch. Byrnjolf won't leave the stall after he creates the distraction. Therefore, I can't meet him in the Flaggon. Thus, I can't even join the guild. At least you got farther than me. Which means I'm not going to get all my trophies in one playthrough. Okay, fix the resistances AND the thieves guild with the next patch please.

Wait, there was a hotfix for those broken dragons? Where?

When I fought one of them, it didn't actually DIE when I killed it, and since it's a quest specific dragon, I don't think they'll be letting me take the reward while he still roams free...backwards.

This game is buggy as all hell.
When this game is patched by the developers, it is inadvertantly broken as well.
This game's players are relying on modders to fix the glitches before Bethesda do.

And yet this game has a HUGE fan base.

WHY?! Why do we still play your games Bethesda?! Seriously, only Bethesda can get away with something like this. Then again, their games are SO good that people are willing to overlook transgressions so serious that they would otherwise cripple any other dev studio.
But their games are not that good (as in not being so good to overlook the flaws), that I still can't figure out why they have such a huge fanbase, and they should be a crippled studio because of this work ethic.

Other than that thanks for saying what I was going to say.

That's an interesting point, I don't like using Steam, and I sincerely hope someone will find a way to make the creation kit and what it makes work off steam, there already is a Skyrim Nexus dedicated to mods people have already made, so I don't know why they'd change it when everything is laid down for them.

That's it, I'm making a Dwemer ruin with journals detailing how the dwarves did not include the three laws into their robots.

I won't have a problem with Steam distribution of my mods so long as there is no censoring of the mods. Period.
A bit early to judge I suppose, but this seems to be exactly why Bethesda is integrating modding resources with Steam.

Personally I don't blame them. If I spent thousands of hours with a ridiculous amount of man-power fueling the creation of an epic fantasy adventure, I'd be pretty annoyed too when the underage naked anime girls flood the world.

So what I'm expecting it to be: censored and controlled mods on Steam, everything else on Skyrim Nexus. Personally, I don't care, I use Skyrim Nexus, I'm a modder myself, so the complexities of it all hardly matter to me--and this also ensures that any publicity regarding mods is twisted into a neutral way for Bethesda. Once the mods come out and Bethesda is removing the worse mods from Steam, any reports about 'Child Killing' mods, 'Nude mods', and 'Naked Neko Wabashi Toyota Mitsubishi-san School-Girl Revealing Slave Armor' will promptly be dismissed with Bethesda simply saying, "We in no way endorse or support mods that are not released exclusively via Steam Workshop" or whatnot.

Oh, and those pesky backwards flying dragons [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/114453-Skyrim-Patch-Makes-Dragons-Fly-Backwards] will be fixed as soon as is humanly possible.
You know that someone with this Creation Kit is going to make a patch with those backwards flying dragons.

Because, imo, those things are awesome. Moonflight ftw.

In all honesty, thought, it's nice to see Bethesda providing the keys to their game (yet again). Gives more incentive for people to play the PC version.

Sounds good to me, im planning on getting into modding with Skyrim but I won't have a decent PC until at least halfway through this month so January is all good for me.

I really don't believe that explanation that they were just "too aggressive" in fixing minor features. Most of the features they were trying to fix were not fixed, and you don't release a patch that doesn't fix what you say it does because you tried too hard to fix it.

They released a patch that fails to fix much of what it was intended to, but broke other things. You don't do that by being too eager to fix bugs, you do that by being reckless, and it's kind of insulting for them to whitewash it like that.

WOW, so many quotes.

Ok, just to claify my position on this... I LOVE Skyrim. I loved Oblivion and also Fallout 3. I have not sunk as much time into any other game and I don't think there is another game dev team that can fulfill my desire for open world RPGs like Bethesda can.

All I'm saying is this whole "multiple game breaking bugs" situation is a testiment to just how good their games are because of how many people are willing to overlook them. The game is so big and so varied that even something immersion breaking like a backwards flying Dragon can be shrugged off. THAT'S how dedicated the fans are and how wonderful the experience truly is.

Someone said that Bethesda is always really good at fixing these things and to be fair they were right there with these patches, fixing up our game. Thank you Bethesda, thank you for making a great game and for continuing to support it so thoroughly as well. I'll send you the bill for the years of counseling I'll need to ease me back into the real world when I finally put this game down. If I ever do...

Can't wait for this, mainly so that I can make custom weapons with infinite enchantment charges.
Not because I want to cheat necesarily, but because currently enchanting is bugged and I cannot recharge ANY of my weapons, despite having multiples of every type of filled soul gem.
This is forcing me to keep re-giving myself a Daedric Sword and re-encahnting it and all that jazz because the old one's run dry....

Dear Creation Kit,
Please hurry up.

But Bethesda ISN'T good at making patches, or interacting with fan fixes that solve their problem for them. I'd also change that part about fans are not so much in love with the company as they are deluding themselves to see fewer flaws.

Also, I don't hate Bethesda, I hate that they can release shit like this and then expect us to accept it.

Further, the Kit will hook into Valve's Steam Workshop which will allow modders to share and rate other people's mods much easier than collating them from various mod websites.
Why do you have to kill your fansites :(

Wow, an official online repository with an automatic mod manager? Those are killer features and will bring a huge boost to modding. I can see that it's a short step from there to a "mod marketplace" where modders can sell their creations, which will provide the support to get some massive modding projects going.

Bethesda, I will never forgive you until you put a coop mode in, but this does increase my respect for you quite a lot.

honestly, this is a big step towards companies making platforms and modders making the actual game. There's a long way to go, but you can see it coming. And that will end all problems with companies taking on too much and delivering too little as a result. I for one welcome the modding future.
