A good point Sir (or Madame), but one that only further validates my point.

It's like how you knew the D&D movie was going to be shit the minute it opened with a dragon in a dungeon.

Skyrim's dragons sound less like the terrifying creatures of legend and more like giant lizards you occasionally trip over.
Oh it gets even worse. I fast traveled to some random tower and got jumped by about seven or eight bandits. While I was cutting them down I heard this explosion followed by the roar of a dragon. So I finished off the current bandit I was working on turned around and got hit in the face for a total of zero damage by its frost breath. Needless to say I continued to kill off the bandits instead and the dragon having been emasculated flew off to kill a mudcrab.
RAAAAAAAAAAAAAWR I'M IMPOTENT!
(the dragon, not you)

You need to use harsher language. Maybe insult their mothers
I agree with this. Tell them that their mother was a hamster and their father smelled of elderberries.

Dragons were a piece of cake for me too at first, then I ramped the difficulty up to expert. They're much harder now and so far I've killed 3 dragons and 2 blood dragons. The Blood dragons are pretty epic, even when fighting them in town.

Dragons are far too weak, imo, I have more trouble killing high-ranking Daughrs for crying out loud.

If your having so much trouble getting dragons to fight you then go join the Dark Brotherhood. Do enough quests to get shadowmere. Now you've won the game, congratulations :)

Seriously i was out and about riding to my next quest objective and i was attacked by two dragons. Is that meant to happen? Anyways i got off my horse and got my bow out and watched as my Shadowmere went right ahead and began to murder them. I took out one dragon and by the time i'd killed him the other was already half health. Shadowmere survives tanking two dragons, huzzah. Not to mention the fact that ever since i got Shadowmere every second town i go to has a dragon (not literally but there have been enough that i have three dragon corpses piled in the same spot in Dawnstar).

Best advice i can give for dragon hunting is go and do quests, ignore the dragons. The abilities are shit anyway. I got marked for death and it barely increases my damage, the slowing time ability slows me down to, so whats the point?

I enjoy fighting dragons (Usually) but Bethesda really played them up much too much. The dragons really needed to be:

1. Bigger - Not insanely huge or anything, but enough to be able to walk underneath it dodge attacks and cut away at it from below.
2. Rarer - Can't seem to walk down the street without getting attacked by a goddamn dragon.
3. Stronger - Not saying insanely strong or anything, but aside from their ridiculous "You're Past a Certain Percent of HP So I Can One Hit Kill You Attack" they aren't really a huge threat. They at least needed to be more threatening than common wildlife. (Bears, mammoths, giants, etc. are all more threatening than they are)
4. Telegraph Their Attacks - Really, what annoys me most about fighting them, is that their extremely powerful tail and bite attacks aren't telegraphed at all, they can pull them out of nowhere. Sure, that isn't a problem for Heavy Armored characters with a ton of defense, but what about Light Armor? I don't fancy spending a long time slowly whittling down it's health with arrows, that isn't fun. Not to mention it has a "You're Past a Certain Percent of HP So I Can One Hit Kill You" attack, which comes right out of nowhere. It would be different if a faster character could get behind the dragon but...
5. Needs to Turn Slower - The dragons seem to pivot on an axis when they turn for some reason. It's futile to try to run away from their breath attacks, or get behind them to avoid their aforementioned one hit kill attack because they turn faster than you can flank them.

It's really obvious that the game's combat system just isn't very well suited to fighting big enemies, which is a shame.

at lvl 48 with frost/flame dragon armor and epic equips along with being a healer and all shouts unlocked yet i still "can" get pwned by an "ancient dragon" which i'm sure none of u have met yet especially the one above this comment

they are clearly the strongest creatures within the game, just blame yourselfs for judging too early in the game

TIP: u can stagger dragons with ur shield attack

The only problem I have with random dragon encounters is that I never seem to get their attention.
I "Fus" for about 10 times and then they still don't see me and go scare some cattle on the other side of Skyrim...

I'm with you there, I'd really like a mod means you only see the most powerful dragons. I'd write it myself but it also needs some other way of getting dragon souls and I'm not sure how I'd go about that.

I guess I have myself to blaim for overhyping the Dragons. Next to wolves and skeletons dragons are just about the single most brutal and metal thing in the universe and I expected them to act as such. Oh but to dream.

I also blaim the "inheritance cycle" for making its dragons totally badass and I kind of expected them to be like that in Skyrim. -sigh- I wish they would make a could Eragon game.

Dragons are getting tedious and annoying, I really hate them already. They attack me far too often.

And indeed come on giants are far more of a threat than dragons?

I know what you mean. I was particularly perplexed by one encounter where I beat the shit out of a dragon without raising a sweat and was then roundly trounced by a Snow Troll. Who I couldn't beat even after >10 reloads. Already I'm beginning to view them as mere distractions from the actual dangers of Skyrim. They're basically just scaly Cliffracers.

Which is a shame.

They did, it was based on the movie (shudders)

Anyway Im rather happy with Dragons, I like how theyre kind of a force of nature almost, at lower levels they are a real challenge. At higher levels though.. although maybe i just need to ramp up the difficulty? Im a level 31 khajit thief/assassin and i can tank most dragons, though apparently stronger ones do appear.

Anyway if i were to share a quick story, I was doing the main quest, going to find
Sky Ruler Temple
to get into the cave you need to pass through a Forsworn camp. Well just before I reached the camp, a Blood Dragon roars and chases me, I run to the camp frantically and then hide, watching with awe as the Forsworn and Dragon duked it out, after the dragon was forced to land, I dealt with the survivors then was promptly one shotted by their shaman.

Another story i dont find as epic but certainly a lot funnier was when a dragon attacked Solitude, It lands and I charge up my firebreath shout, at the last moment some random guy walks in its way and burns to death, upon this happening, all the guards forgot that they were fighting a dragon and told me that i either had to pay a fine or go to jail. While the dragon was still burning down their homes ..
