Honestly it should have never been released on the PS3. PS3 couldn't handle it.
What makes you say that?

If it's from a technical standpoint, I mentioned in my last post that my friend who owns Skyrim on 360 has had exponentially more problems with it than I have. Going further, he's been through at least three 360's in a four year period: system freezing, shutting off on it's own, red ring of death. Myself on the other hand am admittedly on my second PS3, however the only reason I'm on my second is the fact that my first PS3 broke during transport: I had it in a box in the back seat of the car when someone in front of me slammed on their breaks, causing me to slam on my breaks, which in turn caused the box to fly forward on the floor and it no longer would read any type of disc since then. Therefore I sent it in and Sony sent me a replacement, which has yet to perform any way other than perfect

If you're just one of those people that needs to defend whatever decision they made as the "correct" one no matter what, then do us all a favor and at least TRY to back up a statement like this in the future please
It is a technical standpoint.

granted that's an old article, but the game was released on the PS3 in a state where the PS3 couldn't actually handle the game.

Fair enough I suppose, I didn't get my copy right at launch so I guess I got it after an update fixed whatever problems there were, because again: I've not experienced any sort of problem outside of 4 random instances of freezing. Still though, I hardly think it's because the PS3 "can't handle it" it was just poor quality control on their part if anything. Again, my friend's gone through at least three 360's in a four year period from internal problems, while I'm on my second PS3 only due to outside influence. While I don't read Kotaku, alot of other people do, so apparently it's an at least competent source of information, but I'm still doubtful it's a hardware problem and still think it's more quality control/people not doing their jobs correctly

On a side note: after reading my last post when quoting yours I realized that I came off as a little harsh. I apologize for that. My 360 owning friend is one of those "must justify my decision as the right one no matter what" people, so when he makes a claim that, for example, "PS3 sucks", he rarely, if ever, backs up his claim with even a little bit of shaky evidence. So again, I apologize for coming off a little harsh. Force of habit. So to make it up to you, here is a cupcake

At this point, I'm just gonna wait for the GOTY edition to come out on PS3. It just wouldn't be worth it unless they gave it us at a super discounted price.

TBH the only thing keeping me from getting Bethesda games on PC is the fact that my PC is crap.

Oh, and the whole exclusive thing is ridiculous.

Why don't you just purchase the game on the console it was made for?
Cause they shouldn't have to.

Its a port, the fault lay squarely with Bethesda for the DLC situation, they knew what the PS3 was capable of from the earlier ports to the system, so they've really no excuse other then they just don't want to.

Also, Skyrim uses the Havok engine, an engine that other programmers haven't had any problem coding for PS3 reliably.
Havok is a physics engine not a game engine. Skyrim's game engine is Creation Engine, which Bethesda claims was brand spanking new while others say it's just an upgunned version of Gamebryo.

Do i care anymore? No. Will I buy Dragonborn when it comes to PS3? If its at a nice discount, then yes. Will I be buying future bethesda products? Second hand off others of course, but I wont be buying them from bethesda first hand. As for all this talk thats been going around about how we should buy it again on PC or Xbox, well... You see steam recently did a sale of skyrim and all the currently released DLC, could I afford to buy it? Yes in fact I could've afford the game at full price, but I'm not going to buy it, because I shouldn't have to give the same company more money for dissapointing me the first time round. One day I will buy the game of the year version on PC, second hand, purely to play with mods...

Personally I am going to try for a reverse vamp mod that incorporates some of the vampire lords power into your normal vampire level. Idea being that if your fully fed, and got the perk vampiric grip, you could cast that spell outside of vampire lord form. *shrugs* I have to do something to pass the time :p

Much as I adore Skyrim, Bethesda, and my PS3... this whole affair has been a bit shoddy. I get they are working on it, and I appreciate that. I honestly do. And I know how mind-numbingly difficult it can be to prep for every eventuality on the dev/QA side. But this... this is pretty damn bad. SOMEONE had to be stress-testing this sucker for long term use and for other assorted sundries. And at least one someone had to be doing it for the PS3. And of all of them, SOMEONE had to be involved in the testing for the DLCs.

This won't prevent me from buying Bethesda games in future, mind you. I still had more fun with my PS3 copy of Skyrim than any mortal sinner should have. I don't feel I got a raw deal or any such nonsense; I completed the main quest, notched through the civil war, became leader of damn near every major power, garnered enough Daedric artifacts to choke a dragon, and made enough Dragon Bone Armor to choke a Daedric Prince. I got married, assassinated someone else who was getting married, saved the world multiple times over, and punched a lot of elves in the face. Am I bummed my save eventually lagged to death? Yep. Do I wish it was otherwise? Yep. Do I wish the many MANY bugs weren't there? Of course. Do I wish I could play the DLCs? Very much so. But none of that takes away from the fun I DID have.

well to be honest if the dragon born DLC works on the Ps3 i might forgive them. i mean it is total shit that i wont be able to buy dawngaurd but from what ive seen, it didnt tickle my buns as much as what i saw from the dragon born trailer. to be honest im more pissed at the principle really. Also, i have no interest in hearthfire.

I definitely got my monies worth from skyrim plugging in over 120 hours into that game. I am only now running into really bad bugs. For example i cant touch water if i do the whole game freezes, but thats just funny. i like to think of it as instead of having pristine crystal clear rivers and lakes all over skyrim, its lava.

Sorry about that. I've never really been one to use the quote system thing when it has multiple quotes so sorry 'bout that and thanks for letting me know.

I guess it must be a bigger deal for ps3 users (What with not having the extended playability provided on the pc by mods and other such free content.)

Well, I feel kind of sorry for PS3 pea- users.
Having to deal with so many bugs on a system that's apparently pretty hard to work with.
At least we have mods.

If it's so hard to work with, why does it only seem to be Bethesda having the trouble? Seriously, I can't think of another company that has issues on this scale with cross platforming.
Well, that I don't know.
I don't know which developers have difficulties.

I did read they made it hard to develop for on purpose.

Sigh, that's like comparing apples and oranges. Why do other games work on the console? Because they are OTHER games. Seriously, tes and fo are pretty much the only open world rpgs of their kind. And with creating a game on that scale issues are bound to appear all over the place and it's physically impossible for them to fix all of them. Why are they more severe on the ps3? Well that primarily comes down to it's significantly inferior hardware. It's games like this that really make consoles start to show their age.

Honestly I'm sick of the way people complain about stuff on here without even researching it at all. With a good 5 - 10 minutes worth of research on this you can easily pick up some of the causes. Such as the afore mentioned hardware issues, the "new" engine and combinations of the two. And no, it's not because they 'hate' ps3 users or they don't want your money.
