I'm excited about skyrim from the info we've gotten so far, the new combat system sounds fun and i feel that questing will get a lot better, however, i am concerned.
The two things that worry me are that alchemy will take a reduced role in skyrim and that spellmaking will be ommitted. Its a bit early to take anything too seriously but that's what i've heard.
I find it difficult to be happy about these changes. The beautiful depth of these mechanics were a huge part of oblivion and morrowind to me and i can't imagine those decisions improving the experience for me.
To console myself i added some ways this could improve the game experience.
-Improve pacing: in order to make OP potions or to spellcraft you needed to spend a lot of time on crafting screens.
-Approachability: It wasnt until my 3rd character in morrowind that i really figured out how to spellcraft
-Atmosphere: make magic feel like "magic" y'know?

Any other suggestions? or criticisms of the possible reasons i gave?

Please keep paralyze and the ability to become completely invisible. With out those I wouldn't be able to do funny stuff anymore!

All I want from Skyrim is the freedom to completely ignore the story and roleplay as a wandering merchant or whatever else I desire. I used to play as an Indian Jones type character in Morrowind. When I got into Oblivion, I found that being that daring tomb raider was not as interesting or exciting as it used to be.
