There is nothing so ridiculous, nothing so absurd, insane or stupid, that the fundamentalists will not only reach it, but go beyond.

i agree it would be very possible for someone to hold this opinion, but just the wording they choose gives it away. if they'd written it a bit more sincere nobody would have been able to tell...
