......for my T.V. /misleading title

No complaints about the games size here, my problem is that the left and right sides of the display seem to have about an inch cut off. To give you an idea of what its like, if you've played the game, the first letter of the words in the item menu are cut off. WEAPONS looks like EAPONS.

Now, you'd think I could just go and adjust some settings to fix this (witch I've tried, with no success), but the weird thing is all my other games look fine.

This won't make the game unplayable for me, but its a little annoying. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

PS: playing on PS3 if that helps.

Open your tv's options menu using the remote or the menu button on the tv and adjust the horizontal size of the display. That should work.

That's the first thing I tried, but the only thing it will let me change is brightness, color, contrast, and more stuff like that. And theres no other buttons except volume and channel.

I have no idea what kind of tv you have (make/model?) so thats all I can suggest atm
I think its a Philips 30PW8420/37 30" HDTV. I can't remember where I got it and the tags are scratched up, so I'm going off a google search.

On Sony TVs there is a button that change between the different aspect ratios. Hate when it automatically changes to a cut-off to prevent stretching.

EDIT: ninja'ed, its not a Sony

I'm actually having a bit of the same issue, but it really doesn't bother me so I haven't tried to fix it. (Also on PS3.)

In Modern Warfare 3, they make you have to adjust the resolution vertically and horizontally before you start the game... Well my only two options were to have it not span across the full screen, or have some of it cut off. Both top/bottom, left/right.

It simply wouldn't fit perfectly with my TV, which I found rather silly as they went to all the trouble of allowing (or forcing) you to adjust it manually.

I haven't got the game, especially on PS3, so I can't help. But thought I would share this moment with you anyway.

Maybe its something in game that needs a patch then, or it could be a coincidence.

Hi i just saw your post, and I actually made an account on these forums because of it lol.
Baaasically i'm seeing this problem pop up on loads of forums, notably official playstation and yahoo answers. Anyway i managed to find this quote from a "game developer".

"This is a known problem with several blu-ray (PS3) versions of Skyrim. In the factory, an extra layer of protective plastic was applied to some of the discs causing the disc image to be distorted.

Take the disc out and get some ajax, this will remove the plastic film coating the disc.

After purchasing ajax, pour it on the disk and scrub vigorously with a damp sponge. This will create several *light* scratches on the disc. This is to be expected. These surface scratches will not damage the disc at all.

What it will do is remove the coating allowing you to play the game as normal."

So unfortunately you have to get off your ass and buy that shizz :[

Anyway, hope that helps dude.

Go into your PS3 display settings and adjust the screen display to a different size, that might work.
^ this one is what I'd suggest too.

Please don't follow this "game developer"'s advice, if the problem was a distorted disk image it wouldn't show as an aspect ratio problem, a disk image problem would render the game completely unplayable.

Didn't plan on it, I'm not about to scrub my disc with anything unless Bethesda themselves says that will fix the problem.

I'm having the same problem, but I'm on xbox 360. I've tried adjusting the display settings of the actual xbox and there is no way to change the settings of my tv (that I know how of). It's extremely frustrating. It's the same thing - the left and right sides are cut off. I don't know what to do about it :(

Hi there - If you're on an SD TV you are out of luck Skyrim is incompatable.
If you're on an HD or HD ready TV - I'm betting you're running the game through a composite cable (original cable provided by SONY) - the game is also incompatable with this SD cable - as well as 4:3 aspec ratio.
I recomend upgrading your cable to HDMI (this worked for me) - the boost in graphics alone is very close to erotic, not to mention fixing your problem.
If you are already using HDMI (or component cable, I believe, will also work) I suspect that you have it set to aspect ratio 4:3 - change it to 16:9

hope it helps

PS - DO NOT SCRAPE OR RUB THE DISK - the problem has nothing to do with the disk - you'll only end up destoying your game and probably your PS3 when you try to play it...
Whoever posted that needs to get banned.

I don't have an xbox - but a someone online told me that he fixed this issue on Xbox by setting the console settings to WIDESCREEN -
although I can't vouch that it'll work as I have not tried.

I don't think there are people on here dense enough to pour anything on their disc and *then* scrub it with anything but a very fine cloth-- never mind scrubbing it "vigorously" with a "damp sponge."

I hope to everything nobody's done that. They will be egregiously disappointed.
