Thoughts? Opinions?

I'm remaining cautiously optimistic about this. It's nice that it's in the game but I want to keep my expectations low in case it turns out the only gay option is a young, Imperial pretty-boy named Terry the Hairdresser who's equipped with a unique pink crossbow that shoots bedazzled bolts that explode into rainbows and glitter upon impact.

The only thought i have on this is that it's annoying this is even considered news. I mean, it hardly matters (would just like to say, this is not aimed at you, more at sites like Kotaku that feel the need to report this).

I'll be honest, i'm not a big fan of homosexuals, i don't mind them but i have no intrest in what they get up to. For a game to handle homosexuality correctly, it should not even come up if you play it as a hetrosexual. Likewise, if you would like to play as a homosexual, there should be no reprecussions, or indeed any prejudice against it.

On the subject of another game (Mass Effect 3), i'm slightly worried that Shepard has all of a sudden decided he likes abit of bratwurst. It just seems so out of character for a character that hasn't shown any homosexual tendacies to this point (unless you count blue alien's as lesbians of course).

But that's a topic for another thread.

Basically, just make sure it's natural, rather than having overly flamboyant boys prancing around like twats.

I'd say to anyone upset by this Whats the problem? Just becuase the option is there doesn't mean you have to use it.

OP I'm sure it is basically ANY npc you can get into a relationship with similar to Fable. If it is limited; I can only think it might be limited to characters that you hire as companions. Looking at the guys so far I don't think 'Terry' would fit into the world very well. :p Although he does sound fabulous rofl. I would like a unique pink crossbow that shoots bedazzled bolts that explode into rainbows and glitter upon impact tbh. Pew pew. ;)

If you are you can always shout at them and set them on fire. It's what any young lady would do to defend her honour.

Nah, I'm not gonna go there. No complaints here from me, really. I mean, it's optional. So why complain?

If only that were the solution to the Anders problem...

I have no problems with this one way or the other. What I do hope they do is remember that not everyone is gay or bi in the universe. I think dragon age 2 went a little overboard in that respect. And if everyone in the game simply "goes gay" for you (or for that matter straight) well that would ruin some of the immersion for me. There are people in the world who will love you like a brother or a sister and I'd think it would be a shame not to represent that kind of bond in favor of broadening up your marriage prospects. It would probably get a little awkward as well. "Oh so... you too Ulfgar, with whom I slayed the frost giants of Kazkernock and the dragon lord of Skywatch? Is everybody trying to get in my pants?"

So Bethesda is showing off their liberal side.

It really shouldn't matter at all, in my eyes. If you don't want to have a same sex marriage in Skyrim, then don't. I applaud them for integrating it into the game, even if I won't personally be making any use of it.

This would make me gay.

by far the coolest gay relationship ever in a videogame.

OT: honestly I don't think it's a big deal, this isn't the first game to allow you to be in a gay relationship. anyone getting worked up about this kind of thing really needs to rethink their priorities.

I just hope its not the fable system where you can marry someone but they have no personality whatsoever

good for bethesda! hopefully it will be more than a fringe one-off decision

itd be interesting to see if they do it in all their games from now on

what kind of message would it send if they made another game with marriage but didnt include the same option

It also lets you marry a lizard if you're a tall guy with yellow skin, but I don't see anyone talking about that.

I'll just make a chick character, marry a chick, get a chick-on-chick mod, and I need not explain anymore because you already know the rest.

I think that the best way to get people used to things such as homosexuality. If it becomes commonplace in peoples' lives, and a big deal isn't made out of it, it can help people in general become more comfortable with the idea. At least it's a step in the right direction.

The characters are completely custom and their personalities are pretty much designed by the person playing.
I'm gay, I'll play as a gay guy.
I don't see the problem.
