So. I'm playing Skyrim. I've played every conceivable type of character. Two-Handed weapons are gloriously visceral, especially if you manage to snag Volendrung at a low level. Melee assassins are simply all sorts of devious fun, especially if you grab the 15*dagger sneakycrit perk, and the Shrouded Gloves;try it in a Falmer hole! They can't see! And then there's mages; The most OP of OP character concepts. Impact+Shock Spells=Stunlock'd dragons.

Recently,I've made an archer character. Because, let's face it;SOMEONE has to fire on every patella in sight.

And I'm utterly underwhemed by the effectiveness of bows.

I can understand game balance, but a longbow is still a longbow, capable of overpenetrating an armoured patella and the horse that the man is riding. I have a mod that completely restructures the game's Perk Trees, called "Perky". It includes,at level 90 Marksman,a perk to ignore armour values with bows. That's nice...But it doesn't change the fact that bows deal little damage.

My Marksman skill is in the sixties, and my elven bow deals 21 damage. With a comparable Two-Handed skill and a warhammer that's not Volendrung,I deal, very easily,at least 35. Volendrung often doubles that, but since it's a Daedric Artifact,it's understandable (plus it's buiffed by a mod that makes Daedric Artifacts worth the effort). I want a mod that gives bows and arrows some teeth. No,not a mod that adds a specific, powerful bow. Ideally,I want a mod that increases bow and arrow damage across the board,or,failing that, modifies existing bows, like the Nightengale Bow,to deal more damage. This mod CANNOT touch perks,as it would more than likely conflict with Perky. And I don;t want OP levels of strengthening;just enough to make bows hit about as hard as a zweihander.

It doesn't matter if the mod is Workshop or Nexus. I've already done a basic search, but I probably missed at least one useable mod.

Odd, I played the entire game killing 99% of stuff with bows. Are you sneaking to get the 3x damage?

EDIT: Whoops, quoted instead of edited.

Hmmm...on 360 bows are killing machines, especially from stealth. Do you have any mods that could be lessening the effectiveness of them?

Also, you are using better arrows than just iron, right? Sorry to ask, it seems like you're a really experienced skyrim player, but I still see quite a few people make that mistake, so worth pointing out.

The bow itself is only part of the damage total. The other comes from your choice of arrow. Get the zoom and slow motion perks to make them comparable to late-game melee weapons.

I use Steel for normal things, since I can get them by the dozen for free from city guards. Anything tough, like Centurions or Devil Bears (that's what I'm calling them. Sweet JESUS they're evil!) get the Dwarven/Elven arrow treatment. I have no perks that directly effect the damage output of bows, the closest mod is Perky, which is a radical perk restructuring. And at this stage of the game (fairly early, admittedly,I'm only level 23,but my Marksman is at 60-some),I feel that the bow is seriously underpowered. Even Bandit Highwaymen and Thugs tank five or more Sneakycrit arrows. That's just ridiculous.

With deep sadness and regret,I bump. Also, some important info. I don't have Dawnguard, and I have the Sneakycrit Arrows perk for triplicate damage. And mere bandits can tank at least five of them. Steel,dwarven...It's all the same to them. I even tried using poisons, but that doesn't make much of a difference...Yet. My Alchemy is very low,not even level 20. I'm trying to work on that.

But,my question remains unanswered;does anyone know of a mod that improves existing bow damage to around two-hander levels? As it stands,I cannot survive most tough enemies without exploiting pathfinding. And no,I didn;t get shouts yet;I'm trying to get some Glass kit first, via smithing.

Well, an elven bow isn't exactly the best. You should still be doing at least decent damage though. Most people seem to think that bows start off weak but then get OP, but it looks like this didn't happen to you. What difficulty are you playing on?
EDIT-Ugh, while reading other people's posts I seem to have forgotten that you are simply looking for marksman mods. Sorry, I can't help with that. :(

Master difficulty...Since any other difficulty is insultingly easy...And the game still IS. Until I run into an enemy that's one or two steps above "Hilariously weak cannon fodder grunt". Then it turns into HELL. I use steel arrows on most enemies, since I can steal the arrows by the dozens from city guards. I scrounge and buy better arrows, and currently my "good" arrows are Dwarven and Elven. My bow is an Elven bow. My bow isn't tempered because I don't have the Elven Smithing perk (which requires level 40 smithing in Perky) and my bow is magical. Found it in Markarth's ruin, while I was doing jobs for the Thieve's Guild.

Aha, master difficulty. I suspected that, though it still seems odd that some enemies are still easy while some are very difficult. I usually use perks in the skill tree though, it really helps. (Though it's really only necessary on the higher difficulties.) Hopefully someone who plays on PC version will help you find a mod, I play on XBOX.
