Howdy,

I was playing some Skyrim and I am curious as to what people think of the melee styles. I am currently duel wielding one handers. It can be tricky because you have to combo a parry. Are there some people who have tried Dwing and a giant 2 hander? Opinions? Happy murdering!

I can tell ya later, since I'm going to be a Two-handing maniac.. maybe. Against everything about my values, I'm considering going a mage guy the first time... which I've never done in and RPG.

As far as I can tell, you can't dual wield two handers? At least, if I have a sword in one hand and a shield in the other, they both become unequipped when I start using a two hander. Maybe I'm doin' it wrong though...

There are some good slash combos with DWing. But it feels less defensive than a 2H with the block/parry ability. And 2h rape me when Dwing. Keep the ideas coming!

Shield bashing in one hand, and mace to the face with the other!!

Edit: In the past I have never been one for shield and sword, but I really like the way you can use your shield in this game. It feels perfectly natural. Yes, sir, I like it a lot.

I'm not sure about PC, but on 360 I hold LT and while holding LT, I pull RT. Basically, pull left hand button while holding left hand button. It's pretty good. It feels much more immersive than standard blocking.

I'm using one handed sword and a shield, I tried dual wielding but I couldn't stand the amount of damage I left my self open to. I love to charge into a fight knock the enemies back with my shield and then start slashing. It's really easy to fight multiple opponant, especially when you throw out a shout.

That said I've only played 5hrs because I'm studying for exams.

Before the game came out I said I wanted to try the Dual Wielding to flesh out my main female protagonist in my writing/gaming; Karin Silvers ^_^. A dual wielding Imperial.
That said, not sure if I wanna join the Legion or the Stormclocks XD. I'm on the fence about picking the sides but the easiest way is to think of it in star wars XDD.

For those wondering. Once you get the Dual Wielding perks in the one handed tree it gets better! It's a shame you leave yourself open to a ton of damage though but I suppose thats the trade off for being an offensive powerhouse.

2-handers...ugh I can't stand them for some reason. They just seem so slow and bulky for my personal use on any character XD

And the push Shout is the all purpose "GTFO bitches!" button

Been rockin' a spell-axe combo so far. It works pretty well, especially with one of the flamethrower-like spells, but I can't seem to find a stronger flamethrower spell than the starting novice spell, so I've been having a bit of trouble when fighting higher level enemies.

Anyone else think that not being able to just cast spells whilst holding a weapon and shield is a step backwards? Because I think it is. It also get me killed a lot, since my forearm is a SHITTY SHIELD.

Right now i'm using a Waraxe and shield - it does ok in a straight up fight, but i'm making heavy use of illusion spells and archery as well. I might try dual wielding again if I find another good waraxe though.

So,

I swapped from DWing to a giant hammer. HOLY HELL does it hit hard. I do way more damage than DWing, and I can parry with improved block. This is my path for damage now. With zerker rage up and a fire protection pot, I can literally tank and 4 shot dragons.

Perhaps next roll Ill be a better class for Dwing, a Nord maybe. But my Orc was build for a giant 2 hander.
