Has anyone else noticed that both games developers seem to be putting subtle insults into their games, with regards to the other one?

Eg: The Notched pickaxe in Skyrim.
And the New Dragons promised for Minecraft.

I'm pretty certain the dragons were announced AFTER the lawsuit began, and the Notched Pickaxe seems a rather obvious joke about minecraft.

I'm aware dragons arn't Copyright to Bethesda, and Pickaxes arn't copyright to Notch, but still, Really? Are both companys doing this just to annoy the other one, or do you think these are just jokes, or even Unrealated?

What do you guys think?

Could you please explain how either of these are insults or jabs in any way? Also you do know Bethesda is not involved in the case it is Zenimax you'd think by now people would stop mixing that up.

Why does including shout outs(Skyrim and it's notched pickaxe) or similar creatures(Minecraft and it's dragons) mean they're insulting one another?

Notch had been wanting to add dragons since Alpha, if you paid attention to his blog/twitter back then. It was just only recently that he actually got around to doing it though.

False.
Dragons were announced a LONG time ago. Before the Skyrim teaser was ever shown.
That was around August of 2010.
Skyrim was announced in December of 2010.

He only recently added them, however, so I can understand the confusion.

How could you possibly view these as insults? In what possible sense could they be taken as offensive?

It is simply a case of developers showing respect for one another. It honestly, truly, genuinely baffles me how you could've taken it any other way.

The "notched pickaxe" is an item in several Elder Scrolls games. It has nothing to do with Notch Persson or Minecraft.

Insults? Mate you need to understand that petty squabbles are lawyers bread and butter.
The actual developers however have nothing but huge respect for one another, and these crossovers are nothing more then a hat tip to the work of others.

Four problems here:
1. This has been investigated and proven false by someone looking through the Oblivion (the original source of this rumor) object list - there are three pickaxe types and none of them are "notched." IIRC, the same person also looked through the Morrowind list and failed to find any notched pickaxes. Nor is it likely to be an instance of a modifier placed on existing objects - in Oblivion, pickaxes were just world-defining fluff, and fluff was not particularly fleshed out in terms of variations.

2. It's on the highest mountain in Skyrim. It's obviously an Easter egg of some sort.

3. It's enchanted (the "Notched" qualifier being an enchantment), thus (again) demonstrating its Easter Egginess.

4. Come ON! How could this not be an Easter egg?
