DAMN !
I forgot about this :
<link=http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6176>Wars in Skyrim IV - Dark Age version.

Makes the Skyrim a little more... challenging place by adding whole mobs here and there.
War is hell

That Wars in Skyrim looks awesome. I'll have to try that. I'm also very interested in the Thu'umMic, but I'm afraid my girlfriend will think I've gone crazy if I start yelling FUS RO DAH! while playing a game that she likes to refer to as "Creepy Hands" lol.

How are the magic mods? I see some people using Midas Magic, and I know I read about another one that adds like 80 new spells but I forget the name. It also alters damage and such.

And does anyone know of a mod that alters enemy scaling - in particular, a mod that stops giving random broke ass bandits/their chests high end gear?

None. I don't give 2 shits about a bunch of texture mods. Sure if i was just starting the game the UI mod might be good, but i've had the game since a few days after release, i'm use to the UI now.

Remake this topic when real addons exist instead of one that add 10% more texture to the textures.
As has been said before, Thuumic.

All the ones on the Nexus - Skyrim Total Enhancement Project guide. Just go on the nexus and search for STEP. A good guide, lists the order of install and stuff like that. Think I might have overdone it a bit though and dropped the framerate too low in towns... Looks utterly amazing though...

Weird with graphics innit? Just loaded up Rage and finished it off (awful, shameful ending), thought it looked great when first got it, looks not so good in retrospect.
I've been meaning to try STEP (personally for now i like my own customized jumble of mods), is it really worth all the hubbub or would you say customizing to your own combination of mods is preferred?
Sorry for massively delayed reply mate! I would go with STEP. It is a huge undertaking, I will not kid you, you absolutely must have Mod Manager (you just click and it downloads, click and it installs/uninstalls, most bugs ironed out now) and you are looking at 80+ mods and tweaks ranging from hi def image changes for bottles, through effects injectors to realistic thunder audio mods. However, afterwards Skyrim is the most beautiful, immersive game I have seen yet, better than Battlefield 3.

It is a very, very good guide, he tells you the suspected FPS hit for each mod and tells you what he reckons is core (as in essential) and what you could leave out so you have a fair degree of lattitude depending on your tastes and system. The bloke who makes it deserves a big pat on the back. Warning: some of the early stuff, basic graphic card tweaking, needs to be carefully considered, the ambient occulsion and the SSAO destroys your frame rate. It looks SO good I played with it for about 4 days before admitting my system wasn't up to it.

Summary: throughly recommended, enjoy.
hah no big deal, just was slightly curious about it.

reading what you've put, i'd say it sounds good, and definitely worth it, however for now (and especially with the creation kit coming out soon) i'll stick to my own tidbits here and there, and if i ever get bored someday i'll do a fresh install of skyrim and give STEP a go once it's ironed everything out XD

thanks though for the input!

I looked through the top 100 list on Skyrim Nexus this morning and they looked amazing, Unfortunately, I'm in Canada for the next two months with a laptop that can barely run Dungeons of Dredmor so I can't test them. When I can use mods, however, I like to choose ones that quietly and passively improve the game in some way (e.g. flora enhancers, hi-res textures etc.).

i do have a question.. skyrim was designed from the ground up to work on consoles, but how much console interest is there now for it? not much for what i can see. who will be the people playing the game in 5 or 6 years? pc gamers assuming bethesda get around to releasing the modding tools.

curiously ive noticed some of the best oblivion modders have given up waiting for the skyrim tools too and have moved on
I play skyrim on the 360 and i see no differece other than Mods. Even so, the game's brilliant enough already and i'm happy with what i've got.

Hmm... I'm very interested in getting that smelting-mod for myself. I never ever have enough metal, and it irritates me that I can't just smelt all those steel weapons the bandits spawn with. Thanks for the tip!

As for now, I don't have any mods, myself. I don't want to risk the stability of the thing, and I want to experience it vanilla first. But when the creation-kit comes out, I'm going to make myself new homes and dungeons to my heart's content!

One idea I've got is to build this isolated, abandoned barrow, which is infact a cozy little hideout for when my assassin-characters need to lay low for a while. While I like the player-homes available, I want something more personal and homely.

Oh, and I'm dying to make a Dwemer dungeon dripping with Dwarf Fortress-references.
