The one mod I'm really missing from Oblivion is a simple one that tweaks the chances of being able to recover arrows (increasing it to about 99%). It's just annoying when you can see the arrow sticking out of something, but can't retrieve it!
Probably the tip broke off inside whatever it hit. You could pull it out, but it'd be an aerodynamic stick.

Anyway, I'm waiting for the ability to have children (unless you can already, I don't actually have the game yet). Seems like fun, always like that kind of thing.

I don't have the game, but when I do get it, I'll be downloading polearms! Polearms all the way!

They have battle axes, which are 2 handed axes, is that good enough for you?

As for what mods I want, I want mods to let me sort my inventory by weight and not just alphabetically, along with showing which weapons are 2 handed so I don't buy an expensive weapon only to find out I can't wield my shield with it.

I've only spent a short time with the game but I'd like to be able to toggle weapon/spell combinations using the number keys like a typical FPS game.
This too, I don't want to have to re-equip my shield every time I equip my sword/axe/1-handed weapon since I have my bow assigned to the other shortcut. I do really like the favorite system though, it is very useful and makes this problem completely bearable.

Fix the UI, jesus christ it's bad. I didn't think it'd be possible for shit to get worse than Oblivion's, but they managed it.
Quite frankly, I don't see what the fuss was about with Oblivion's interface. It was OK once you got used to it. Items took up a bit too much space, though, so you couldn't see much.

But in all seriousness, Skyrim's interface sucks a controller's balls. Not only is it designed for the controller, which means you're limited to less tabs/categories, in turn making it harder to find your way around your massive inventory, but it's also better to use the keyboard to navigate through it, which is a pain. It just doesn't feel as fast and streamlined as it used to be.

As for mods, I'm waiting for another Journal Mod, so I can write shit.

Agreed. That's the only glaring flaw that's bothering me right now. Everything else is either a nitpick, or something that will manifest itself after a lot more hours of play.

...it's clunkiest UI I've seen in years. It's awkward and unintuitive with kb/m.
Turn off the Xbox Controller Mode in options, it's on by default.

Apparently one of the first mods to hit was one to let you kill the children, I haven't confirmed that, but its what a friend told me.
really, i don't understand why they didn't let you kill children in the first place. especially in fallout 3 (where basically everyone WANTED to slaughter lamplight caverns), where it makes sense that children would be subject to the same dangers as we do (especially since they can use guns).

i want that chicken turning people in mod, and some minor modifications to the UI, since its a bit of a hassle navigating the skill trees (though it LOOKS fantastic, it just doesn't handle so well)

Capatcha: .5047 vothubse. that sounds like one HELL of a sniper round, perhaps one which emits a significant shock to cause a heart attack atop the regular wounds so that the target has a minimal survival chance.

any other ideas what this round might do?

Really? I haven't found the UI to be that bad. I reckon it's fairly intuitive. All that shits me is the time it takes to switch between weapons mid-fight can get you killed.

Then use the favourite system. It took me a couple of gaming hours to even realize it was there, but it really works great.

I have it on PS3, so I'm not sure when I'll be getting any modding opportunities, but I'd like some one-hit kill mods. An arrow to a dude's unprotected head should kill him, not reduce his HP bar by half.

And longer, physics-enabled hair.

UI is fine for me, but I can see where it'd be a hassle for PC gamers.

oooo, physics-enabled hair, that would be nice.

gotta love pc games, every day its out and modders are working is like an extra day of development time, with a studio 9 times the size.

Your solution: Archery perks. There are perks that will essentially let you recover all your arrows from dead bodies. Granted they are quite far up the tree, but hey, if you use it so much that it's annoying then skill and perk it.

First mod i'd like to see is proper UI with normal inventory screen. Sorry, the console list doesn't cut it for me.
Second mod i'd like to see is re-modelling the characters, elves especially, because as usual they look just bad.
Third mod i'd like to see is high-rez texture pack, because really... some textures in Skyrim are just terrible.
Among next things i'd like to see what people can do with the magic system, not really loads of fun spells to fool around with Maybe a decent combo system for melee weapons as well, depending on how flexible the Creation Kit will be. And of course all the minor bug fixes mods that will be more stable and faster than official patches.
the elves do look kinda ugly, but they always did, and at least this time they are distinguishable (everything in oblivion looked kinda samey).

another thing i really want is an independent block key. why is it i cannot use both of my weapons together to block something? is that really so hard? and why cant i block just because i bothered to have a spell ready in my left hand? it just seems like an irksome oversight.

I'll be doing my own.

Want to sort some armour and weapons out to start with. I do like the ones in game but I have a certain *look* I like to have with my characters.

Then i'll make my own race.

Then a faster bloody horse.

I don't mind the UI much so i'll be leaving that alone. I'm sure others will make some for that.

Those waiting for the *bigger* mods may have quite a wait on your hands. They take quite a bit of work and a lot of us in the modding community make mods for ourselves first before we make them for general public.

I'd like to see a mod that gradually makes the snow and cold conditions have an effect on your character after prolonged exposure, getting worse and worse over time.

Because I'm a bit sad like that.

EDIT: And one that'll make Giants my friends. Because I don't understand why they won't love me ;__;

lol no, the favorites system is fine, I use it all the time. I'm just griping about the length of the animations.

That has nothing to do with the UI being absolutely abysmally designed. It's not even good with a console controller, but it's unacceptably bad with a mouse. It's poorly laid out and the controls weren't thought through AT ALL.

And while I'm nitpicking about the problems in this awesome game, the map is pretty terrible as well. Very pretty, but not very functional.

I agree, a simple weapon set UI mod would be perfect for me.
Press 1 for sword and shield
Press 2 for magic
That sort of thing

And this, I am finding that frustrating too, is it really that hard to block with a spell in your left hand?
