On the topic of Giant, I also managed to achieve orbit. For the people who don't know what we are talking about, watch this:

Edit: This is the only real glitch/ oddity I have seen...

So, early on in the game I stole an Elven Bow from a display case in Whiterun. When I flaunted it in front of its former owner, they didn't seem to care. I thought I was in the clear. I have failed to find a better bow, so I've been using it ever since. 12 hours later into the game, I take a carriage to Windhelm. Before setting out into the wilderness, I decide to "discover" Windhelm so I can fast travel there.

I approach the gates, but a guard stops me. "Yes, I know you from somewhere," he ponders; he then tries to arrest me. I agree to pay the paltry 26 gold fine and be on my way. But, he then mentions he'll be confiscating any contraband I have on me. I had a hunch... and sure enough, yes, my Elven Bow had been taken. So, I steal a bow in Whiterun... 12 hours later, in a place I've never been to before, a random guard "recognizes" me. That was unexpected. Guess who's reloading?

I matched most enemies I've encounterd quite well, but when I went up the mountain to High Hrothgar I came across a frost troll who kept killing me in 2 strikes....
That thing was a *****. I got onto a hill and i managed to shoot ONE HUNDRED steel arrows into it with an imperial bow. Then it died. Was a great moment for me. Was a pin cushion.
I kited the ice troll back to where that pilgrim sat, contemplating the shrine. She tanked him for me :). The ice troll killed her, but by then I only needed a few more arrows to finish it. Turns out the pilgrim was carrying a necklace that reduces the cooldown on shouts by 20%. It worked out great for me. Not so much for the pilgrim.

Oh no!! I have that same bow! It's the best I have found as well. And why pay when you can steal? Crap... I have to hide my bow the next time I'm off to Windhelm. I'll pay the fine, but you'll never find my loot. Funny though, I have stolen those horses in front of Windhelm a few times but they don't seem to care... You'd thin they'd be more upset about that.

EDIT:

Now that I thought about it, you should be able to get the bow back. There should be a prison in Windhelm and there an "evidence box". Go check if you can get your bow back.

I had 3 thugs on me when I was leaving Solitude but I ran away because the guards were near and I was being accused of thievery. A couple of times I've come across a band of ominous warrior mages, one of whom tried to kill me.

I've killed 3 dragons in total so far but I'm learning new shouts faster than I'm collecting souls. I joined the Companions in Whiterun and was given a starting quest by someone but he didn't really say what to do and it's not in my journal. Help?
It's not under misc. It gets its own section (I'm about 87% sure) :)

If it's still not there at all then bug?

Sorry for dp, just figured i'd let this kind soul know what i think is the answer to his/her problem and my last post was pretty big for another quote and explanation :3
No I had a look ,it must be a bug. What did you have to do in the first quest? If I complete it, it might let me do the next one.
There is a vendor woman in the market square. Talk to her and win the fistfight.
Hmm... I think I've spoken to everyone. What was her name?
My quest journal says Carlotta Valentia. She is the one who talks about supporting her daughter.
No I just checked it's not working. I tries using console commands but that's not working either. Oh well, I guess I'll have to stick to the Thieves Guild.

Fagotto said that the first quest was randomized. Yeah, sorry. Your only option is to check everyone in Whiterun or give up. :/

Things I have experienced in Skyrim so far:

1. Attacked by "thugs" because apparently someone thinks I stole from them (Moira?). 3 armed thugs jumped me in the wild, and I beat them down (barely). Found a note on them saying they were just supposed to "scare" me or some such thing...

2. I was riding my horse and an argonian appeared sneaking around me. I hopped off the horse and the argonian attacked, revealing itself as an "assassin", which I promptly killed in 2 or 3 blows. Hardly much of an assassin, it didn't even attack me while I was on the horse... it did decide to dual-wield tho, which was interesting to watch. Found another note on the assassin from the dark brotherhood detailing how "someone" wanted me dead.

3. Giants suck. One hit and you get to experience a birds-eye view of Skyrim... well a corpse-birds-eye view...

4. Encountered 3 dragons so far, 1 from storyline and 2 in the wild. I killed the storyline dragon with ease and one of them by arrows and a lot of restoration spells... The third flew away...

5. Found the werewolf guys and am currently trying to get them to "bite" me...
Why is it an oddity that you encountered 3 dragons?

Also, you get to be a werewolf when you join the companions.

Well, I don't know if i've encountered any oddities yet.. None that I remember that is.

Oh crap. I had a fugitive do that to me, and I just realized I actually sold the bow he dumped off on me. I'm going to assume he's going to show up at some inconvenient point in the future and try to kill me now -__-
I can really imagine that. Next time you're between mammoths, giants and a dragon he can come jogging out of nowhere and demand you return his (going by his name stolen) mace. At once. He trusted it upon you, you know.

Well, I'm not actually carrying that thing with me, don't know if that matters. So if he comes asking for it, I can say yes I have it and no I cannot give it to you :)
Well if that happened I'd hope the dragon fries him for me. But giants now... they're not nice. I had one stomp on my face and instantly kill me right after I finished gathering some mammoth cheese.
I only a little while ago killed my first giant. I kept my distance from them until now, I'd like to say out of respect not pure terror, but who am I kidding. I was kinda grossed out to receive "giant's toe". That means I have to consume a filthy toe to know what its effects are. Eurgh... I know it's a game, but eurgh...

Well I dropped down a cliff after I went exploring a mountain and landed behind a giant after promptly running away I found out he stopped chasing me and just stared so I went back and dual shocked him with magic and he started chasing me again.

After a 10 minute game of cat and mouse though which attracted two packs of wolves, a random party of travelers anouther Giant, two mammoths and a pack of wild cats and me shooting off as much magic as I could manage then chugging as many potions as I could (and occasionally being flung half way across the map from a Giant slamming his hammer into the ground and glancing me.) I finally killed one of them and managed to glitch all the others in terrain I got away, with a Giants toe! ^-^

Not a bad start at lv2 but I do think i'll avoid giants from now on.

Also I killed a chicken and the starting village now wants my head apparently.
.
It's a fun thing, apparently chickens could tell on you to the guards when they spotted your crimes (but they fixed it), so that bit of programming remained when you killed it.

Oddities/Funnily annoying things that has happened to me so far:

I was sneaking around Whiterun by night to score some money and potions. Completely emptied the Alchemy shack, and I do mean that I cleaned it out. But I still was lacking a couple of Healing potions so I decided to stop by the Temple where I had seen loads of them. Sure enough, no problems cleaning it out. Later on I was leaving Dustman Cavern and guess what was waiting for me outside? Four hired thugs with a contract issued by the priestess in the temple!! She's supposed to be a kind woman! *****, come on! I mean... She never noticed me, niether did anyone else. She was kettled too!

Being chased around the tundra areas, south(?) of Windhelm, by four Mammoths and two Giants. Took me two hours, one failed attempt (forgot to quicksave properly), about 15 healing potions, 300-ish steel arrows and more stamina potions than I ever could count. Why? Beacause I had gotten the last shot on a dragon they were fighting which died in the friggin middle of their camp! That firebreath was so much sweeter after that epic fight though!

The funniest thing that has happened to me so far though must have been when I was on my way to High Hrothgar. I was making slow progress. Ice Wolfs against my sneaky archer who did not pay attention..
I was almost at the top, I could smell victory and the fucking troll at my heels.
When suddenly out of no-where: A full-grown Elk appears. Bullrushing me from the right as I was turning around to see what became of the troll.
Damn thing smashed me down from the cliffs.. I was so fucking furious that I didn't attempt the climb again (again, forgot to quicksave correctly) until I had hunted down what felt like every damn Elk in the whole of Skyrim. I'm still a bit iffy when it comes to navigate cliffs. Keep spinning around, half-expecting that damn Super-Elk to come back to assert his dominance over me..

Not so much oddities, just random impressions
-I detested Oblivion, but can see myself spending some meaningful time here. Love the levelling system; it seems more intuitive that skills develop through use rather than just an assignment of points "I have never smithed before, but I have a skill of 50 so I could, y'know, if I WANTED".

-Two dragons down and the second one SUUUUCKED. Level 8- I came across him while wandering aimlessly past Mistwatch (?) and thought I'd give it a shot...ow ow OWWWW. Not only did I have the big scaly bastard to deal with, but on several occasions a sabretooth or a pack of pit wolves showed up out of nowhere and swiped me. I ended up playing ring a rosy around a tree, sniping it with arrows and saving a lot.

-My Skyrim experience improved the moment I stopped looking for grappling points and trying to hit detective mode.

-still not a fan of the combat, but then combat hasn't been the primary attraction of any of Bethesda's games. It doesn't feel as much like swiping air, but thats kinda faint praise

After reading this thread I feel that the world would be a way more exciting place when there were dragons.

They should start building them, genetically, from the ground up. It will be greatest thing ever.

During my assault on the prison where one of the Grey-mare (right name?) brothers was being held captive I span around and saw somebody running towards me with their weapon drawn. Instinctively I attacked with my block bash and the assumed attacker dropped down dead. It was Lydia, my housecarl. That was when I found out that, unlike Fallout: New Vegas, dead Npc companions don't come back to life.

Ah well.

OT: New things, there is a Pickaxe you find on top of the highest mountain, Throat of the World, called Notched Pickaxe. I'm pretty sure its a Minecraft/Notch reference... There's a subtle Star Trek Next Generation reference in the name of a character, Temba Wide-arm. A couple King Arthur myth references; A sword in a stone, and a skeleton in a lake holding a sword in its hand above the surface (lady in the lake?).
All in all good show Beth, this is a great game.
I have to find that pickaxe. I saw Temba Wide-Arm, thought that there had to be something there, but couldn't place it. I'm surprised that no one's mentioned the most obvious reference in th game. High Hrothgar, sound famaliar? Hrothgar was the name of the king, who was being terrorized by Grendel and Grendel's mother in the epic poem Beowulf and the novel Grendel. But not the recent movie Beowulf, because it sucked.

While I'm definitely enjoying it more then Oblivion and liking a lot about the game and the chances (namely, the atmosphere, the Dragons are more fun the Oblivion Gates and the leveling system is top notch) there's still 1 thing I hate. While this may be like complaining about Beer because its alchoholic, the number of quests and overall lack of structure still annoys me. I currently have 29 quests outstanding and as strange as it may be I find it really off-putting when playing as I end up not being able to decide what to do next. The sooner someone develops a Mod to let you /reorganisehide some to reduce the clutter the better.

Also, no Alt+F4? Really? Surely it cant be that hard to throw in.

So there is this body sitting in the middle of Whiterun, well a citizen just walked up to it and said "People shouldn't leave things lying around that others can trip over."
