Skyrim Oddities

I did this mini quest, where I got into a drinking contest with this guy in some town somewhere. Anyway I wake up the next day in a temple in Markarth, Waaaaay over the other side of Skyrim, turns out I went in there, groped the statues and threw rubbish everywhere....damn priest made me pick it all up..

I apparently married someone...

Man I love Skyrim.

During my assault on the prison where one of the Grey-mare (right name?) brothers was being held captive I span around and saw somebody running towards me with their weapon drawn. Instinctively I attacked with my block bash and the assumed attacker dropped down dead. It was Lydia, my housecarl. That was when I found out that, unlike Fallout: New Vegas, dead Npc companions don't come back to life.

Ah well.

She can't be killed by enemies. She'll just kneel down for a while. Only you can deliver the killing blow. That sucks.

The giant that hit her out of the park would like to disagree.

Things I have experienced in Skyrim so far:

Killed 5 dragons now, and 2 skeletal dragons (skeletal wont give you souls)
Became Arch-Mage of the Mage College which gave me the old arch mages house and great mage gear
Found 3 power words randomly
Found 2 Dragons claw relics (golden and coral)
For some reason whenever the companion i had and I came across an Argonian, we would get attacked, and I couldn't kill them... two dualcast firebolts/icespikes/lightbolts to the face took him down each time and he just got back up ditched the companion and now they dont attack -_- wtf!
Completed the main quest only up to the point of becoming "Thane" so i could buy a house in Whiterun...
Explored to almost every corner of the map. (damn mage college quests!!! what a run!!)
Hardest Boss fought so far : Morokei (End of Mage College quests).
I like to shout randomly into the sky... and am currently searching for Frost and Storm Atronach books...



Currently lvl 16 @ 18 hours of play,
Magik = 340 (lots of MP + gear) haha!!
HP = 140
Stam = 120

How mad would you be if I told you that I can cast Master-level Destruction and Restoration spells for 0 Magicka? Because I can.

So far 22 hours clocked on Skyrim, Not a single crash on the PC version.
Strangest thing I saw was a Level 1 Necromancer summoning 2 dead chickens to help fight me. I hadouken'd his face off and went about my business.

This adds a whole new layer of awesome to an already awesome game.

I'm going to go try that now, I bet it would make a few of the Dark Brotherhood missions a bit more interesting.

EDIT, OT:

Everytime I place something in my house in Whiterun, it seems to do one of two things. It either disappears only to be found in some other place in the house, or it ends up in a completely different position than where I originally put it.

It's kind of annoying, as I'm trying to decorate my house with some random stuff like troll skulls, instruments, etc.

Things I have experienced in Skyrim so far:

1. Attacked by "thugs" because apparently someone thinks I stole from them (Moira?). 3 armed thugs jumped me in the wild, and I beat them down (barely). Found a note on them saying they were just supposed to "scare" me or some such thing...

2. I was riding my horse and an argonian appeared sneaking around me. I hopped off the horse and the argonian attacked, revealing itself as an "assassin", which I promptly killed in 2 or 3 blows. Hardly much of an assassin, it didn't even attack me while I was on the horse... it did decide to dual-wield tho, which was interesting to watch. Found another note on the assassin from the dark brotherhood detailing how "someone" wanted me dead.

3. Giants suck. One hit and you get to experience a birds-eye view of Skyrim... well a corpse-birds-eye view...

4. Encountered 3 dragons so far, 1 from storyline and 2 in the wild. I killed the storyline dragon with ease and one of them by arrows and a lot of restoration spells... The third flew away...

5. Found the werewolf guys and am currently trying to get them to "bite" me...

To become a werewolf you need to do quest for the companions and they will in time give you the gift. no other way

Damn. I really underestimated enchanting in this game.

I'll have to start grinding soul gems and items to enchant then.

I was wading down a river when I came upon a waterfall. I tried(unsuccessfully) to get out of the river before being pushed over the edge, on my way down, my descent was slowed and there was a horrible sound being made, almost like a scream. Once I safely made it to the bottom of the falls, I saw what was responsible. Apparently a goat was just chilling on a ledge halfway down the falls and I landed on it, saving my life but killing the poor goat in the process.

That goat was my guardian angel.

I found a non-aggressive Giant on the road between Riverwood and Whiterun with an ox. I nicknamed him Bunyan.

got the wierdest quest initiation ever.... I performed a whirlwind shout at some camp. When I got at the city there was a messenger waiting for me with a letter saying that he was impressed by the shout and I had to seek out some oddity at a tower.

Didn't start the quest yet. Apparently this is one of the endless quests?!

Anyone else think the chicken thing is a subtle reference to the "chickens report crimes" story from a while back? They may not report crimes any more, but they apparently report their own deaths...

Went into a small dungeon and killed 3 witches back-to-back. I notice a guy in a cage in the same room that I just killed said witches in. The guy begs me to free him so I do.

He then says "Right now that that's out of the way, I'll take all of your valueables." This man is wearing only a loincloth and only has a small knife. I look back at the the burning corpses of the witches who I assume captured him with ease and back at him. My only that was, "Seriously?"

Needless to say, the corpse of that very stupid man is burning in the cage I let him out of. >

I matched most enemies I've encounterd quite well, but when I went up the mountain to High Hrothgar I came across a frost troll who kept killing me in 2 strikes....

Yeah, that Frost Troll was a total douche-nozzle. I found it difficult, and I was a Mage, with Fire magic, a Flame summon, destruction dual-casting AND a follower (Lydia, I believe).

I had an epic fight last night, against a Hagraven and two Frost Trolls, all simultaneously. It was on a high stone platform protrudung out the side of a cliff with a sacrifical altar in the middle. I was hammering the Hagraven with sneak arrow shots while hiding behind the altar, as my follower kept the trolls busy. The trolls beat her down and came after me just as I finished killing the hag and I only survived by using a dragon shout to first knock the trolls away from me, kiting them around the altar until the shout had recharged, then dragon shouting them off the edge where the long fall killed them.

It's been confirmed that you cannot contract lycanthropy in Skyrim.EDIT: NVM I guess that bethesda guy was dicking around. Vampire aids(can't remember what they call it lol) is still available as well.

Vampire disease is called "Porphyric Hemophilia"

Ah, ok then. I got a few CTD's and they where fixed after i changed this. Also i
Did you set your own advanced videosettings in the launcher? try resetting them to one of the presets: low, medium, high or ultra.
Rumor has it something can go wrong when you set your own. i noticed my videosettings got reset after a CTD when i had my own prefs in it.
Now im running at 'ultra' which isnt the perfect setting (sometimes choppy in crowded interiors) but i havent gotten a CTD since (fingers crossed)

I will give that a go. I guess I will just have to put it on Ultra until they fix this problem. Thanks.

EDIT: It didnt work. If anything it just made the game lag more and then crash. This is really starting to bug me.

allright, Ultra is apparantly too much for your PC, try high or make your custom settings again, since ive found something better: Im now running at my own prefered videosettings, the trick is to circumvent Steam, which can be done by executing your 'TESV.exe' (not the launcher) as administrator.
tested it out today and last night havent had a crash in about 10 hours of playtime
warning: You wont get Steam achievements if you play like this.
