So... Umm... where in Canada is 11/11 a statutory holiday? I live in Ontario, and I certainly don't have that day off.

It's veteran's day here on that date but it doesn't really matter, don't think any stores will be closed. Also in Canada if you have a good PC then Steam will be open as always. Besides, 11/11/11 only happens once every hundred years, so I say celebrate rememberence day the other 99 but this year celebrate Skyrim.
Hey, uhh... World War II Veterans? Yeah, I know you fought for our country, watching brothers and comrades die, fearing for your life at every turn, dodging bullets and explosive shells, all so that I could live in a free country and all... but come on! 11/11/11 won't happen again for, like, 100 years! So, uh... yeah, I'm gonna ignore you this year, and play video-games instead.

Hey, don't fret. Zellers is open 9-9, even on statutory holidays (Christmas is the only exception) for your shopping convenience. Ugh...

Not that Zellers has the greatest variety in games and they usually don't receive new releases right on the release day, buuuut give it a shot I guess.

Its the 11th day of the 11th month of the 11th year; its an odd date, so whether or not it coincides with a holiday probably was the last thing on their minds.

The 11th of November is Rememberence Day here in Canada, a holiday similar to Veterans Day and Armistice Day. In Canada, this is a statutory holiday. No stores are open in all but three or four Provinces of Canada.

Has a game ever been released on a statutory holiday where you live? Seems like quite a bit of an oversight on Bethesda's part to me. I mean, It's Canada, we're not exactly hard to miss on a map!
Oh, but there's a solution to that, my friend. We carpet-bomb America! With maple syrup cans because that's pretty much the only thing we've got! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Seriously, the *actual* solution to your conundrum is Amazon. Statutory holiday or no, you'll get your game. Just, more than likely on the 12th or 13th, not on release day. But, hey, it's a guaranteed copy!

Captcha: Croisés donnent
"Crusaders give"? Sweet, I've always wanted a broadsword and a set of armor!

We have Rememberance Day on the 11th here in the UK but it isn't a holiday...
It is a holiday, but is held on the Sunday after 11/11/11 or on the date if it turned out to be a Sunday.
Sundays are practically holidays anyway

That reminds me, I need to get a poppy.

I think some stores just open especially for big game releases, so I wouldn't worry about it. Though it might be different in Canada.

I live in Prince Edward Island (It's the province that on some maps you can't even bloody SEE.) I don't know about the rest of Atlantic Canada, but Nova Scotia has it as a statuatory holiday as well. I sound a little bit like a hick, but the big city provinces don't have the day off save for some governmental buildings if memory serves.

Yeah, I should have thought ahead and ordered it online. I've always been a little suspicous of that after the solid month it took me to get Fallout 3 GOTY from Amazon, but that was probably an odd case.

@IamLEAM1983: We will storm their government on our Mooses, our lumber-axes, hockey sticks, and lacroose batons striking true!

@Takey: Interesting. I'll call ahead and see, and if so, I'll see if I can cancel my Future Shop Pre-order.

In the UK we just have a minute of silence to respect those who fought for our freedom, its not much but I feel that it is nice, ill probably stand on top of the tallest mountain in the game and do a minute of silence

You just made my day.

OT: 11/11/11 is a cool date, & it probably won't affect the number of people who buy it, so they have no reason to care.

So only half of Canada celebrates this 11/11/11 thing and you think Bethesda should have changed their release date for that?

1. It's Canada. Who cares?
2. It's half of Canada. Who REALLY cares?
3. More Canada bashing for no reason. =D

You should check your local shop. In Belgium most if not all shops are closed but my local retailer is most likely selling it on Thurday according to their facebook page. Though they couldn't guarantee it was playable before Steam says so.
Plus our post doesn´t deliver anything on the weekend, so I´ll have to wait until monday for my pre order...

It's 11/11/11, literally the greatest promotional release date there is every 100 years! Rivaled only by 12/34/56, which isn't even possible! Canada can go f*** itself!

I'm so sorry, marketing really gets me passionate. In all seriousness, I'm pretty sure Bethesday just doesn't want to pass up on this date to release it's game, it's nothing personal.
