I don't really see a problem with being able to have friendships and marriages in games. It's just there to make you feel more involved with the world which is exactly what Bethesda try to do, make you feel like you're involved with the world and the characters in that world. It's an optional feature, you don't have to get involved with NPC's if you don't want to.

Sounds ok to me if done right. In fact there is something romantic about a thieving couple sneaking into a mansion without being noticed(Assuming the AI can handle not being pants on head retarded). Although this better be handled better than Fable 3 if I'm an assassin that kills people for laughs I better not have anyone confessing their love for me as I tear out a guards throat.

There's supposed to be about 800 hours of gameplay in the finished version according to the E3 comments....I think that should cover for enough things to do even with this Fable crap...

In fact, I've liked nearly everything I've heard about Skyrim so far. I'm very excited for it.

However, the major, MAJOR exception is the further reduction of armour slots; merging armour and greaves? What were they thinking? What if I want to have a topless Nord barbarian run around like Conan, but still have him wear trousers?
They're going the same way as with Fallout 3 huh... well, if they still have the extra, mostly unused slots (Body Addon 1-3) then modders will fix it. Unless you're planning to play on a console, that is. But who would want to do that?
Wasn't the merging of the cuirass and greaves done to reduce the amount that needs to be rendered and avoid clipping issues? being able to have more people on the screen and more types of armor is also a +1 for the game.

Plus, how good did your character look when he wasn't wearing chest and leggings of the same set?

At first I was like "SHIT NO!"
But then I realized that I don't give a crap about NPCs and only interact for quests and buying stuff.
So yeah, as long as it isn't all up in your grille about it, then I guess its easy to ignore.

Looks like people are over reacting to me.
If you don't want to interact with the NPCs, get married or anything else it says on the source. Then don't.

Hell, as mentioned a few times before, this is just the company adding some of the most popular mods into the game. I enjoyed Fallout 3, for example, but I fucking LOVED Fallout 3 when I stuck Arwen's realism mod onto it. And hey presto, NV comes out with a relatively similar mode built in.

What I really wanna see is better combat. Basically, take Skyrim and add Mount & Blade combat, and prepare for sheer awesomnity~!

EDIT: Come to think of it, M&B handle "romance" pretty realistically too. I think as long as we're not railroaded into marriage. I can just imagine some god awful quest along the lines of "Before I trust you with the sacred sword of dragon slayage, you must prove that you are the chosen one! And the way to do that is to take my pretty but socially retarded niece on a date. Every Friday night. For six months. And if you miss one date you have to start again. And there'll be even less sex than Baldur's Gate 2. Damnit, this girl needs a boyfriend and the saving of the world is no longer a priority!"

So will this affect the rest of the gameplay?
If i marry some chick, will there be a fresh supply of healing sandwiches ready to pick up whenever i swing by the house?

Wonders what "get to the kicthen" sounds like in dragon tounge

This was a good part of the fable franchise, although I think it was better done in fable 2 than 3 imo. In addition to having the environment with Elder Scrolls style this could be a great game.

Well now I can take people I don't like with to be my meatshield while I kill dragons. And when they die I take their shit. Doubt i'll get married since I plan to be an argonian and there are just too many procreation problems.

How are these 'fable 3' like features?

Watch:

Skyrim to have Witcher like relationship features.

See what I did there?

Im fine with it. I always liked that you could have a home in the fable series. For me it made my character feel more established in the game world. Like he's not just some random persona that's ass kicking in a world, but someone with a house and family in the same world too.

So yeah good for you Skyrim.

Aah nothing to worry about. To be honest, they're probably adding it to try and increase immersion. I think the main part of this will be to get a relationship someone to take them on a quest/raid, for practicality rather than any moral side.
To be honest, I'd rather have this side of it, than the side where you stare at cold eyes staring at you - talking in a voice that sounds terribly familiar.

Sure, Skyrim will have fable 3 like features, but heck - it might just fit the theme, I mean really when have Bethesda ever let us down, eh? They're just trying to increase the options for people to immerse themselves in. I mean let's be honest here - at least 10,000 people are going to be marrying the games case/disc/desktop icon within a week of the release, now at least they can do it in-game instead of real life :D

If they're really going to take a page out of Fable's book by putting in the whole marriage thing then they'd better damn well give me the option to marry someone of the same sex and they'd better give me more options then Breton #21, Nord #89, and Derek from Cleveland because that guy is a self-absorbed asshat.

And the correct answer is... meh.

I don't care one way or the other about it.

Oh no! A completely optional feature that you don't have to do if you don't want to!

Seriously you guys? If you hate it so much then you don't have to do it so I don't see why you're complaining. Overeactive, much?

Isn't that the duty of the mod community? I mean, look at the awesome that is "Fallout Nexus".
