An Illusionist! Main combat skills are Illusion, Sneak and One Handed ^^' Also going for Alchemy and Lockpicking. Combat usually consists of Fury, Calm and Fear spam, follow by friendly fire, sneak attacks and maces hits to the back of a fleeing target... x3 Illusion4life \o/

....Dragons do pose a bit of a problem though >.<

If you decide you want to play anything real specialized. I'd really recommend considering turning down the difficulty level. The game is challenging enough on the middle difficulty that your more or less forced to invest in armor/restoration/blocking skills if you don't want to replay sections frequently. I've played dark souls, i'm not a bad or w/e, i just value the role-playing aspect of TES games more than the combat.

I have to agree with this right here. When I started the game I walked right by the first quest marker in Riverwood, down the path and out of town to Riften with my heart dead set on thieving, but then I got...

..the Nightingale stuff and it made me want to sort of pursue that in a role-playing sense...

..so yeah, I can see what you're saying there.

Am I the only one to say "Screw efficiency, play what feels right"?

Yes, maybe I have to reload more often after getting my ass handed to me on a platter, but I'm having fun.

A better question would be what class am I not playing. I have Alt-itis. I have a wood elf stealth archer, a kahjit stealth dagger, an imperial warrior mage, a breton mage, and a redguard sword and board. I am farthest with the warrior mage but maybe only because that was the first one I made. Every other is around level 10. They are all awesome so far.

I'm using a 1-handed sword + lightning spells, though most enemies are usually dead before I even need to use the sword. I shock enemies to death in mid-close range, whereas at long range I use a bow :p

She's also good at smithing, lockpicking and enchantment.

I'm playing an assassin-ranger murderer type who happens to probably be the worst person in the game world...

I murder people for fun...
I steal anything of value...
I'm working for the Daedric lords...
I'm head of the Dark Brotherhood...

let's face it... If anyone met her and looked at her the wrong way you could find yourself with an arrow in the back of your skull before you made it home....
or a knife in your back once you've fallen asleep....

(The route I've taken is surprisingly OP, since I 3-hit a dragon at level 10... or 12...

30x crit hit from daggers (sneak tree)
2x damage from backstabs (brotherhood armour)

epic win is epic...

Dual wielding Orc Berserker with One-handed, Smithing, Alchemy, Archery, and Restoration. I tear through shit, except frost trolls for some reason, might need fire damage on one of my weapons maybe. Other than that, a pretty good build. Currently using a Dwarven mace with soul trap, a glass waraxe, and a glass bow with shock damage, berserk, and breath of fire or something that makes me swing faster for dragon shouts.

Berserker with a bit of archery on the side.

If only they could replace my left arm with a metallic arm that has a canon and a crossbow attached to it...

Oh and werewolf to signify the wolf armor Gatsu gets :D.

Smithing-focused Sword and Board in Heavy armor. I grinded smithing up to level 100 way ahead of everything else and basically all my attacks do ridiculous piles of damage due to my pimped-out gear.

Okay so I've just killed my first dragon and I seem to be using sneak, archery, one handed weapons and destruction magic quite a lot. So... A stealth mage I guess? I have no idea.
