Sorry for creating yet another Skyrim thread but I am so incredibly frustrated atm. Does anyone know when Bethesda is going to fix their screw up of this game? The latest patch have made my game unplayable. After playing around 20-30 min some kind of memory leak makes the game lag like hell. It's completly unplayable and I don't fancy restarting my game every half hour. Argh I hate this so much!

Trying doing a fresh reinstall. Most players aren't having problems with the 1.2 patch (think about it, millions playing and 1000s complaining implies 0.1% are having problems).

I'm beginning to wonder which is really the better platform to play it on.

The amount of problems PC players are having with this game is pretty ridiculous.

Us PC folk are in it for the long haul, that is, for the mods.
That's why I got it for PC and not XBOX 360 anyway.

While I don't find it unplayable, the occasional irritating CTD does get on my nerves and stops me from playing for long periods of time.

You have my sympathy, since you have what can be described as an actually quite serious problem.

As soon as the news about problems with the patch showed up, I turned off automatic updates via steam.

A patch for 1.2 will be released next week, apparently.

I look forward to the new bugs it'll introduce...

The memory leak was there from release. I know. I have it. They still haven't addressed it. I feel your pain.

Saw this thread...face entered pillow and i muttered the words OH MY GOD!

If Skyrim is unplayable for you, then it's probably your system. At least 80% of the escapist are NOT having game braking problems -.-

This was a patch supposed to fix the lag caused by the memory leak, now we have no elemental resistances and backwards-flying dragons and a whole other host of problems and the lag remains...was even FO:NV that unplayable on release?

Hmm, I have the same problem, except I am fairly sure it is because I only have a 512MB Geforce 9600, as I can often step outside into Whiterun (or anywhere else) and have it slow to a crawl, but be tolerable again if I enter a shop.
Well, I will be buying a new graphics card at Christmas anyway, so that I can view the game at better than Low/Medium graphics, and if it still happens, at least it will look pretty for those 30 minutes at a time.

But once the tools get into the hands of the modders, the pc will definitely be the tightest version.
They should just hire the modders to do their QC since whoever does it now (assuming that anyone does it) is obviously incompetent.

OP- Next time don't buy a Bethesda game at launch. The only reason I didn't buy Skyrim at launch is because I knew with 99.9% certainty that there would be all sorts of issues with the game at launch and after the first few patches.
I must be psychic right?

I love Bethesda games (when they work) they've just pissed me off too many times for all the exact same reasons.

And invincible dragons and end game bosses. That bug almost made it unplayable on my game (360) and took a bunch of reloads to fix itself

I fell out of love with Bethesda due to the pc version of Skyrim. I have internet on my phone & have no real need for my pc. I thought it would be worth using Starbuck hotspots to do the necessary installation when I read how to install from disc. Everything was fine until today when I went to McDonalds and used their hotspot. Steam did some form of updating & when I got home, I couldn't play my game anymore without logging into steam. This was highly upsetting until I went back out in the rain to find another local hotspot only to find out that for some reason I have to reinstall the whole game again. Problem now is that the install from disc function no longer works so I have to sit at a wifi location for virtually the entire weekend while steam downloads the entire 5+gigs for the file. I have looked forward to this game for years & after spending over two weeks straight playing through this game both on PC & PS3 I am no longer a fan at all of Bethesda & I will be finding creative ways to destroy about $500 worth of Bethesda products. I will never give this company a dime of my money in the future & will give my loyalty & my money to another gaming company all because of their decision to discriminate against pc gamers without internet access & forcing everyone to use the stupid steam service. I know some people swear by it, but it has ruined my entire weekend & has resulted in wasting the past couple weeks of my life. Even the PS3 version is useless to me since the game lags to a halt when my save file reaches 9mb
