The world would literally run out of villains if they just sealed up all the caves and abandoned forts.
But then they would all move to Windhelm or Markarth.

When the game randomly minimises and then won't reappear when I click on it in the taskbar. I can still here the music, I know you're hiding back there Skyrim!
I've only ever met 1 truely immersive game, so my enjoyment of Skyrim is almost always the same. The lack of immersion doesn't take away my enjoyment though.

I think the greatest issue I had with the game (aside from the glitches and various other problems posted in this thread) was the fact that everyone seemed to know about these illusive and evil Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild. I preferred in Oblivion where you had to take the initiative to be initiated into these after locating them or committing certain actions. Sure it wasn't very difficult to do, but the presence of these actions gave the illusion they were underground. Hell, the DB and TG might as well set up recruitment booths and advertise for their where-abouts, be about the same level of immersion.

Regardless, I still love the game but I think Bethesda made some pretty big trade offs when building it which has taken quite a bit of immersion right out of it. Great game or not, I hope the future DLC is made even more epic to make up for some of these short falls.

Oh, I'll tell you what ruined my immersion.

Real life. Sure, the graphics are great, but the gameplay sucks.

I was headed back to Whiterun after learning the first dragon word, when I met the companions. After I killed the dragon and wrapped shit up with the Jarl, I paid for a ride to Winterhold to check the college out.

On the second quest, I beat the class down to Saarthal so I had to wait around. As I was waiting, the same exact group of companions just strolled on by. Like all the way down that pit and out the other side.

I guess I could've accepted they had trekked over a couple mountains from Whiterun, but right after that, a group of guards wandered down, got all defensive and posted up on the steps. I just chilled, amused at how pissed they were at nothing, before they attacked me. No bounties or anything - I don't think I had even robbed anyone yet.

It was a weird start to the game.

Also, the perfect touch skill at pickpocket lvl 100 - it's hilarious. But the ability to undress someone as they walk, then put their outfit on and start a conversation with them as if nothing happened..kinda ridiculous.

Oddly enough, the only thing that's REALLY broken my immersion is the fact that you can walk around in clearly zero to negative degree weather with nothing on but armor with no sleeves, and suffer no ill effects. I don't need the game to be an exact simulation of real life, but that bugged me for some reason.

The morning sun shining through my window, telling me I ought to get off it. I kid, I don't spend that much time on it.

I guess what ticks me off is when it fails to load some textures and they're just purple. The first time I saw it, I just assumed that the redguard I was talking to was wearing some elaborate party gear, but then I saw that some of the trees were doing it and I was annoyed.

Bethesda games aren't immersive by default. Especially the console-controls version for PC since I was wondering why I can't move.

What breaks my immersion are the item related skills like alchemy/enchanting/smithing. Not the fact that these skills can be combined to make drastically over-powered weapons and armor, that's something I can restrain from doing, my problem with these skills is that I can't raise them in an immersive way.

Basically I can't level up enchanting/alchemy/smithing without making 100s of items my character would never need, so leveling these skills is an immersion breaking grind for me.
